She opens her mouth, but I press my finger to her lips. “I don’t care if that makes me a hypocrite.”
“That’s not what I was going to say.” She shakes her head, laughter sparkling in her eyes. “I don’t think you have to worry about her showing up for an audition.” More seriously she adds, “Are we good?”
“We’re more than good, Emily.” I slide my hand over her stomach again and she ripples with laughter.
“That tickles.” She leans in and kisses my neck, then presses her palm to my cheek and turns me to face her.
“Trying to distract me, firecracker?”
“From tickling me?” she whispers, her hot breath fanning over my lips. “Yes.”
Our lips meet in a long, slow slide. I could do this all night with her.
Three sharp knocks rattle the office door. I groan and pull away from Emily.
“What?” I shout.
Emily curls her arms around my neck and presses herself tight to me.
The door swings open and Ravage’s face appears. Behind him, I spot Jigsaw who lifts his hand and waves.
“What?” I ask, quickly working the buttons of Emily’s shirt closed, right up to her chin.
She pulls away, huffs, and unbuttons the top two.
“We all good in here?” Rav asks with a pervy smile stretched across his face. He rubs his hands together like a comic book villain.
I shoot a death glare at him. “We’re fine.”
“Just wondering where you disappeared to.” Rav passes a look over Emily I don’t care for. Not his usual sleazy eye-fondle, something a bit darker.
Guess I’ll be kicking his ass later.
EMILY
The cold stare from Ravage rattles me right down to my toes. Because I’d already caused enough trouble with my antics tonight, I hadn’t told Dex what an asshole Ravage had been to me earlier.
Thankfully, he leaves. Jigsaw remains in the doorway. At least he’s always been nice—even if he probably thinks I’m an idiot after tonight.
“What do you need, Jiggy?” Dex asks while urging me closer, as if his arms can hide me from the world.
“Oh, please,” Jigsaw teases, “what’s with the modesty?”
“Get out, Jigsaw,” Dex says in a low, irritated rumble.
“Settle down.” Jiggy sweeps his mischievous gaze over both of us. Dex glares at his brother and curls one of his hands over my feet as if he doesn’t even want Jigsaw to get a look at my socks.
“Don’t worry.” Jigsaw blows Dex a kiss. “If I see something I've never seen before, I'll toss a dollar your way, cupcake.”
I can’t help it, I duck my head against Dex’s shoulder and shake with laughter.
“Don’t encourage him,” Dex mutters.
Jiggy grins and lifts his chin. “If you’re gonna give him more hickeys, make sure they’re visible so we can all enjoy razzing his ass.”
“Oh my God.” I bury my face in my hands. They did not give him a hard time because of me, did they?
“Get the fuck outta here,” Dex grumbles. “Unless you actually had something useful to say.”
“Sure. I’ve got a few things.” Jigsaw takes that as an invitation, steps fully into the office, and closes the door. “One, just FYI, these walls ain’t soundproof.” He tilts his head toward the filing cabinet. “Now I, having shared an RV with Rooster the warbler and his little chickadee, am used to unholy nocturnal noises. But the folks in this pristine establishment are not used to emphatic cries of ecstasy. You may or may not have scandalized a few souls next door.”
Heat blazes over my skin. People could hear us? Over the thumping music and all the other racket?
“Ignore him, he’s just fucking with us,” Dex says to me, throwing a murderous glare at Jigsaw.
Jigsaw isn’t at all fussed by Dex’s silent threats. “Sure, sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
“How am I ever going to walk out of here?” I mutter.
“Don’t sweat it,” Jigsaw says. “Now all the girls know your man is taken. And Rav finally received some much-needed sexual education. Win-win all around.”
“Jiggy,” Dex grits through his teeth. “Stop messing with her.”
“Now wait a minute.” I straighten up, ready to play along since I sense Jigsaw’s trying to test me. “What’s this girls know my man is taken stuff? Are you sure hearing us was enough? Should I rub myself all over him in front of everybody to drive the message home?”
A slower smile of approval splits Jigsaw’s face. “Now you’re gettin’ it.”
“You may have charmed Shelby into thinking you’re some innocent little prankster, but you’re not doing it to my girl,” Dex warns. “She can see right through you.”
I blink at Dex. “He’s not little.”
Jigsaw claps his hands and points at Dex. “Keep. Her.” After a few seconds, Jigsaw’s face turns businesslike. “Seriously now, amateur hour is almost over. Swan stopped by to help out. She helped pick two of the new girls to stick around.”
Ugh, the girl from the party who said she likes to service all the guys? I curl myself around Dex and he gives me a squeeze.
