My three cubs are wrestling with Papa bear as they roll around in the mud. I shake my head and laugh even though they’re probably going to make a hell of a mess when they come in.

Cameron made me some coffee, so I grab a cup and sit by the window, watching them with a smile on my face as I sip it.

It’s not long before my mate’s eyes are on me. I swear that grizzly bear has a sixth sense for knowing where I am at all times. I don’t know if he can smell my scent or what, but he’s already spotted me in the window.

Blake’s crazy cub leaps onto his neck and is clinging onto him as Cameron’s bear watches me with protective territorial eyes. I get a warm comforting shiver from that look. I’ve always loved it. It’s always made me feel so protected. So loved. So adored.

I wave to my bear and then laugh as he shakes Blake off and he lands in the mud. My two daughters are stalking him from behind in a stealth attack while he’s distracted with me. They leap onto his ass, clawing and biting, and Blake doesn’t even peel his eyes away from me to look. He just shakes them off and they join their brother in the mud.

God, I love my family. It warms my heart to watch them play like this. In the beginning, I felt a little left out at times. I wished that I could change into a bear to join them, but now, I’m more than content to just sit here with a hot coffee and watch them.

But Cameron’s grizzly has other plans for me. He walks over on his huge paws, comes right to the window, and grunts.

“No!” I shout at him through the glass. “Not going to happen. It’s nice and dry in here!”

He grunts again and this time I can feel the sadness in it.

I turn away and cross my arms. “I said no. Go play!”

He gives me the saddest puppy dog eyes I’ve ever seen and it breaks my heart as he walks away with the rain pelting down on him.

“Oh, fine!” I shout as I roll my eyes. “Fine. You win!”

I slip off my robe and then open the door to feel the rain with my palm. At least it’s warm.

Cameron’s bear looks thrilled as I step out to join them.

It takes about 0.016 seconds before I’m completely drenched, but there’s a smile on my face as my bear buries his wet head into my stomach with an adoring rumble.

“Are you happy now?” I ask over the rain.

He looks up at me and I can tell that he is.

My three muddy cubs come running when they see me and pretty soon, I’m down in the grass wrestling with them too.

As my girls jump on my stomach and Blake nuzzles his cute little nose into my neck, I think that this right here beats a warm robe and a hot coffee any day.

Because days like this are the ones we remember. The ones that memories are made of.

The days we feel most blessed.

And if Cameron and my cubs make me feel anything, it’s blessed.

The End!
