Okay, no big deal it is.

Stretching, I said, “Oh man!”

Ryan instantly moved as if he’d been burned. I rolled over before he had time to get fully away from me. He was on his back now, with a look of what I could only describe as terror on his face.

Smiling sleepily, I said, “I slept so good knowing you were here. Thank you for staying.”

He blinked a few times. “Sure. It wasn’t a problem. Um, sorry, I must have rolled over in the middle of the night.”

I gave him a confused look. “That’s okay. I didn’t think you would sleep in one spot, stiff as a board.”

His cheeks turned red, and I almost started to laugh. I hadn’t meant to say it that way, but seeing him nearly jump out of his own skin was kind of fun.

Rolling onto my back, I stretched again, then tossed the covers off me and jumped out of bed. “You’re more than welcome to take a shower or anything you need to do. I’m going to make coffee.”

Ryan was getting out of bed, and I had to force myself not to look below his waist, instead staying focused on his face.

“Thanks, but I better get back to the ranch. I mean, if you’re okay with me leaving?”

I waved off his concern. “I’m totally fine now that it’s daylight. I never plan on listening to another podcast for as long as I live. Well, not a crime one, at least.”

Ryan chuckled, and I felt my breath catch. I loved his laugh.

“Coffee to go then?” I asked.

“That would be amazing.”

“Meet you in the kitchen.”

A few minutes later, Ryan walked into the kitchen…and a strange tingling sensation came over me. I could totally get used to having him here. Waking up every day with him in my bed, maybe enjoying a little morning sex…

“Everything okay? You look flushed.”

“Yep! Everything’s fine. It’s just a bit hot in here, I think,” I muttered as I handed him the tumbler filled with coffee.

He held it up and said, “Thanks. I’ll be sure to give this back.”

“I’m not worried about it. Thank you again for staying last night.”

His eyes met mine before they drifted down to my mouth, then jerked back up. I swore for a hot second he was thinking about kissing me. Instead, he cleared his throat and took a few steps back.

“Anytime, Morgan. If I’m being honest, it wasn’t a hardship sleeping next to you. Or waking up with you in my arms.”

Did he really say that?

“That was nice,” I said softly.

His eyes moved to the right—and he frowned. Following his gaze, I saw the flowers that I’d moved to the dining table yesterday. “I still have no idea who sent them.”

Ryan made a grunting sound before he looked back at me. “I better take off. You’re sure you’re okay?”

“Positive. I’m going to head down to the studio to do some work.”

“Let me know what you find out about the broken window in the shop.”

Shit. I’d already forgotten about that. My dad and brother had boarded it up for me last night. “I will, for sure.”

Walking behind him to my front door, I couldn’t help but notice how nice his ass looked in those sweats. When he suddenly stopped and turned, I shot my eyes up and plastered on a casual smile.

“Talk soon?” he asked.

My heart tripped over itself at those two simple words. “Yes.”

He leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. “Have a good day, Morgan.”

“You too, Ryan.”

He opened the door, and I watched it slowly close behind him until the soft click of the door latching caused me to jump. I pressed my fingers to my cheek, where I swore my skin was still tingling. Turning, I leaned against the door and sighed as I felt a wide smile erupt on my face.

“I’ve got to tell Krista!” I said to no one before rushing back into my bedroom and grabbing my cell phone. After finding her name, I tapped my phone to call her.

Krista’s groggy voice came through the line. “Do you have any idea what time it is?”

Glancing over at the clock on my nightstand, I said, “It’s eight-thirty.”

“Yeah, and I’m still on vacation. It should be a sin to call me before eleven in the morning.”

I rolled my eyes. “Ryan kissed me.”

She gasped. “Shut the hell up!”

“Yes! Well, it was on the cheek, but I’m pretty sure he wanted to kiss me on the mouth. At least his eyes said he did…and the way he looked at my mouth.”

“When was this?”

“Five minutes ago!”

“Wait, where are you?”

It took everything I had not to giggle with excitement. I was still creeped out about last night, but waking up with Ryan’s dick pressed against my ass had put me in a pretty amazing mood.

“I’m in my apartment.”
