I stay inside her, and she keeps kissing me, and soon, we’re going at it again. But this time, it’s an unhurried pace. One that we end up maintaining for hours. I can’t seem to stop, and I don’t want to let this go, even if it is a lie.

When we finally collapse beside each other, she reaches for my hand and smiles at me. It’s a different smile than the one she gives Adam, and I wonder if it really means something. I’m wondering about a lot of things when she curls up against me and wraps my arm around her waist.

“I just want to stay right here,” she whispers.

In my head, I’m telling myself I want that too, but it’s impossible to ignore the unsettling feeling in my gut as the threat of daylight looms. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring. But for now, I’m going to pretend it doesn’t matter.

I’m woken by an obnoxious pounding at my door. I groan, half-conscious, as something tickles my face. It’s only when I open my eyes that I realize it’s Bianca’s hair, and last night wasn’t a dream.

“MJ,” Adam calls from outside. “Wake the fuck up.”

At the sound of his voice, tension bleeds into my body, and Bianca’s eyes shoot to mine, completely panicked. If there was ever any question that she’d change her mind come morning, this is the answer. She sits up, and her eyes dart toward my closet. But what did I expect? I don’t want Adam finding out this way any more than she does, regardless of how things will go. He doesn’t deserve that shit.

“Go,” I tell her. “I’ll talk to him.”

She nods, scrambling over me and grabbing her clothes from the floor as she scurries to the closet, shutting herself in like she did before. I stare at that closed space for a minute, trying to figure out what the fuck I’m supposed to tell Adam.

“Bro,” he bellows. “Come on. Wake the fuck up.”

“Fucking Christ,” I mutter. “Hang on. I’m coming.”

I throw on my briefs and glance at the bed, wondering if it’s obvious I’ve been fucking Bianca in it all night. My head feels like it’s underwater as I move toward the door, half preparing myself for a fist to the face. It’s what I deserve. Because this morning, when I’m not thinking with my dick, I know I fucked up last night by letting her stay.

I crack open the door and don’t even get a word out before Adam shoves inside. He looks fucking pissed, and I’m bracing for the fallout. But when he flings himself onto my sofa, I realize it’s my guilt making me paranoid.

“What the fuck happened last night?” he asks me.

“What do you mean?” I try for a neutral tone, but I’m not sure I succeed.

“The yard is trashed,” he groans. “I got wasted and passed the fuck out like an hour into the party. Bianca must have gotten her panties in a twist and bailed on me. Do you know when she left?”

I swallow and shake my head. Biggest. Piece. Of. Shit. Ever.

“She’s not answering my texts,” he says. “It’s pissing me the fuck off.”

I grind my teeth, forcing a nod because I’m not sure what to say. Telling him he shouldn’t have been fucking around on her doesn’t seem like a viable option because he doesn’t look all that remorseful. And given what we were doing last night, it’s not like I have any room to talk.

“I swear this girl’s going to be the death of me,” Adam complains. “I treat her like a goddamn queen. I take her out to nice dinners. Buy her diamond necklaces. Last week alone, I blew five grand on her. It’s like she’s never happy with any of it.”

“Does that include flaunting your escapades in her face?” I ask before I can stop myself.

He tosses me a questioning glance, and I wonder if I’ve given too much away. But he just gets more irritated and shakes his head.

“What the fuck are you talking about?”

“The other girls,” I tell him. “Come on, Adam. Do you think Bianca doesn’t know what you’re doing?”

I don’t know if I’m just looking for some kind of justification for what we’ve done behind his back, but it feels like I have to get confirmation from him. A part of me has to know if what Bianca said is true, or if she really is lying like her father said.

“Did she tell you that?” Adam asks.

“No,” I lie. “But that’s your thing, isn’t it? You’ve always fucked around like it’s no big deal.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he says. “There aren’t any other girls. Not since I popped Bianca’s cherry. Why would I even want anyone else when I can have her on demand? You have no idea, bro. I swear to God she’s obsessed with my dick. She’d probably murder me if I let anyone else have it.”
