To hide my alarm, I stand and check Odin’s pulse. “I didn’t hear you get back.”
My mind scrambles, wondering if he arrived before I woke.
My throat tightens.
If he did, does he know I was with Doc?
Did he see us together?
No, Doc would be dead if he did.
Otto’s smile is menacing, and there’s nothing good in his lifeless black eyes. “And you won’t. So best you behave yourself whenever me and your old man aren’t here. There’s no telling when I’ll turn up.”
Despite his warning, I mentally breathe a sigh of relief.
He doesn’t know that I’ve come from Doc’s arms.
“Where is the doc?” he asks.
I look away so he can’t see the fear in my eyes or the lie I’m about to tell. “I don’t know where he is. He mentioned something about getting some shut-eye.”
I keep my eyes lowered but feel him move behind me. My blood roars in my ears because I don’t know what he’s about to do. Otto’s always been unpredictable.
One of his fingers curls in my hair, and I flinch, a sudden cold shiver snaking up my spine.
I turn to face him and step away. “Don’t touch me.”
But he stalks toward me, backing me up until my shoulders touch the wall, so I’ve got nowhere to go.
“Get the hell away from me,” I warn him.
He laughs at me.
“You know, there was a time you liked me touching you.” He steps closer, so there’s only a breath of space between us. “A time when you liked me inside you.”
I swallow back my disgust. “Those days are long gone… I can assure you.”
And they are. Otto disgusts me. It makes me sick to think about the time I used to spend with him.
“Or maybe you’ve just forgotten how good it felt.” He leans closer to whisper in my ear, “How I used to make you moan when I was fucking you.”
I was seventeen when we started having sex and eighteen when we stopped. I didn’t even know what it felt like to come with a man inside me, and now, as he has me backed into a corner, I can assure him that every moan he’d heard back then was faked for his benefit. But doing so will only fuel his growing contempt and rage for me.
His rancid breath is hot on my skin.
“Remember how you used to whimper when I ate your pussy? How good it felt to have my tongue inside you.” He moans thickly, then traces a finger down my cheek. I turn away from his touch because it makes me want to vomit. “Seems like a good time to ride down memory lane, don’t you think?”
He’s not asking for permission.
I have a feeling he never does.
No, he’s letting me know what’s coming.
When he slides his hand between my legs, I shove it away. But he merely laughs and pins me against the wall, so I have no choice but to feel his erection against my thigh. I turn my face away from him so he can’t kiss me, and he laughs again because he’s getting off on it. I always knew Otto had a streak of darkness in him, and it seems that darkness has finally taken over.
He yanks my face to look at him.
“Get your hands off me,” I warn through gritted teeth.
He kisses me, and I bite down on his lip, but it only arouses him further.
“That’s it, baby, fight me.” He shoves his tongue into my mouth, and I waste no time kneeing him in the balls. With a growl, he keels over, and I escape to the other side of the room.
“You stay away from me, you sick fuck!”
He glares at me, his black eyes glowing with rage, fury, and arousal. He straightens and wipes the blood from his lip with the back of his hand, a nefarious grin spreading across his menacing face as he slowly stalks toward me. “I like it when you fight me, little one.”
Once upon a time, that nickname meant something to me.
Now it makes my stomach churn.
“You keep your filthy hands to yourself.”
“Or what? Look around… no one is here but you and me.” He glances at Odin on the bed. “Except him, and I don’t think he’s going to mind watching us if he wakes up. Odin is into that sort of thing.”
“My father—”
“Will be happy about our union. He had plans for us before you left.” His black eyes are cold and callous. “I had plans for us.”
“You’re delusional if you think I’m going to let you touch me.”
“Oh, I don’t doubt it’s going to take some time to get you used to being back in the Inferno. But you’ll come around. You won’t have a choice.”
My mind goes to Doc sleeping soundly down the hall—I could scream, but I doubt he’ll hear me.
