“When I got a woman to whip me in shape. You should try it.”

Yeah, yeah. I head back over to Makayla. Since when did being away from her put me on edge? When I walk up, they’re talking about— “What did you just say?”

“She said you sleep with a teddy bear. She’s been filling us all in on your living arrangements,” Levi speaks up.

Goddammit. “Oh, yeah?” I eye her. “And what else has she been saying?”

Mak shrugs. “Nothing. Just how you need to listen to Taylor Swift to fall asleep—which I don’t mind. I love her.”

“The fuck?”

“Oh, and how you cry at Hallmark movies.”

Levi grabs his chest in laughter. If he’s not careful, it’s the last sound he’s going to make. My eyes sear into hers. “Is that so?”

“Yeah, I mean, I figured your friends already knew. Was I not supposed to mention the hormone enhancers—whoa! Probably need to talk about roommate code and stuff. Be right back!”

I drag her across the yard and don’t stop until we’re behind the shed. “Are you purposely trying to make me mad?”

“Maybe.”

“Well, for the record, it’s fucking working.”

“Oh, boy, what are you going to do about it? Should I just skip to the good part and bend over so you can spank me?”

It thrills me to watch her eyes dilate. Little minx is turning herself on at the thought of my hand across her ass. I press my body against hers. “You need to knock it off. We’re gonna get caught.”

She scoffs at me. “Oh, come on. We already are. Hannah is no dummy. But don’t worry. It’s our word against hers. As long as you keep me happy, I’ll stick with your little lie.”

“The little lie you started. It’ll be our little secret. Please fuck me.”

Her mouth drops. “That’s not how I said it.”

“That’s how you meant to say it.”

“Not true.”

“Says the one who turned into a feisty little cowgirl riding my cock this morning?”

Another scoff. “Lack of sleep. I was practically senile. I barely even remember what I was saying.”

“Oh, yes. So deep—”

“What are you two doing back here?” Chase appears out of nowhere.

“Nothing.”

“Talking about how boring it is to ride ponies,” Makayla answers.

My eyes flash to her. She better fucking not.

“Wait. Huh?” Chase looks super confused.

“You know, when you expect to get on a horse and ride ’em, like, really ride them, but it’s anticlimactic. It’s a ride, but not a stallion kind of ride.”

Is she fucking serious right now? “Too much sun, this one. Don’t listen—”

“For real! All you want to do is yell, ‘Yeehaw!’ but, meh. . . it’s just a pony ride.”

I swear to—

“Yeah. . . I have a feeling the context of this conversation is not for my ears. I’m just gonna go back to—yeah, whatever.” Chase walks off.

I stand there glaring at Makayla. “I’m not a fucking pony.”

“Okay,” she says, smiling innocently.

“I’m a stallion, and you damn well know it. You practically blacked out after that last round.”

“I was lacking sugar, but whatever you say.”

This goddamn girl. She’s baiting me. And winning. “You know what? Screw this.” I step into her space.

“What are you doing?” Her breath hitches.

“Exactly what you’re asking for, babe. Punishment.” I push her up against the shed. My palm slides up her thigh and disappears beneath her summer dress. I’m not shocked when I push past her panties and find them soaked. My finger slips through her slit, and I thrust two fingers inside. “Have anything to say to me yet, naughty girl?”

Her head rests against the shed, her eyes barely open. “Nope. I am hungry, though. Can we hurry this up?”

God, she drives me mad in the most thrilling ways. I know our time is limited before someone else ventures back here, so I don’t waste any. I stroke my fingers in and out of her slick heat, and it doesn’t take long before she’s melting around me. Her lips part, and I want nothing more than to take her mouth. Steal each breath. But that’s not what this is about. This is payback. Her breaths turn into short pants. Her walls start closing in. That’s when I pull out and step away.

Her eyes flash open, glazed over with lust. “What the hell? Why’d you stop?”

“Because this is you being punished, sweetheart.” I rub my stomach. “Man. I’m hungry too. Better hurry before you miss out on the good burgers.” I step out of her reach and walk off just as she tries to grab me.

“You’re an asshole,” she yells to my back.

“Good thing you love me that way.” I leave her, mouth gaping open, speechless.

And. . . fuck.

Did I just say she loved me?

Chapter 26

Makayla

I hate him.

Every delicious inch.

He left me high and dry, and now I’m sitting on a lawn chair staring at his bare chest and stomach as he plays volleyball in the pool with the guys. My sex throbs, and I’m mad I fell for it. I should have known better. Can’t trick a trickster. Well, actually—shut up.
