“What is this?” she asked when I handed her a manila file with a big red bow on it.

“Open it and find out, Mary Poppins.”

“Jackson, if something bursts out of these files and you mess up my dress, I will show the next girl you bring to the house your baby pictures with your ass sticking up in the air.”

“Relax,” I coaxed. “My next prank isn’t until tomorrow. It’s an epic one though, so be prepared.”

She glared at me in the same way Gremlin always did.

“By the way, this was all of our idea. Not just Journey’s and mine. Jackson wanted this too,” Jagger emphasized, winking at her.

She opened the file and her mouth dropped open. “If this is a prank, I’m going to kill you,” she wept with tears instantly springing in her eyes.

“No, it’s not. Journey, Jagger, and I would love for you to officially adopt us. We want you to be our mom. I mean... that’s if you wan—”

She cut me off, throwing her arms around my neck.

“Oh, fuck! This is completely unnecessary, Mary Poppins!”

“Shut up, Jackson.” She hugged me tighter, pulling Jagger and Journey into her embrace as well.

I let her have this moment, despite still hating being hugged. A whole other reason I’d never shared with anyone.

“I would be honored to be your mom. I love you all so much, and I know I’ll never be able to take Bailey’s place, but if you’ll let me, I’ll try to be the best substitute in her absence.”

“Ma!” Journey chimed in, hugging her so hard, her eyes closed.

Camila spent a lot of time showing Journey pictures of our mother. She never wanted her not to know who her real mother was. Journey listened, loving her birth story, but in my baby sisters’ eyes...

Mary Poppins was her mother.

The night progressed, and at one point, I sat down at the corner table by the dance floor, watching the guests having the time of their lives.

Including Harley, who wouldn’t stop dancing.

Her body swayed.

Her ass shook.

Her tits bounced.

She was a fuckin’ muse.

I don’t know at what point it was where I started gravitating toward her. It was as if I blinked and I was standing in front of her. Reaching my hands out for her to take.

She eyed me up and down, narrowing her bright blue, enticing gaze at me. They were rimmed with black eyeliner, luring me in profusely.

“You’re jokin’, right? This a prank?”

“Shut up and just dance with me, Gremlin.”

“You can dance?”

“I’m standing here, aren’t I?”

“I don’t trust you.”

“That offends me deeply.”

“Jackson, I don’t wanna play—”

“No games, just dance with me. I’ll even say please.”

“Are you feelin’ okay?”

“I’d feel better if you’d dance with me.”

“Fine,” she sighed, giving in. “But if you—”

I grabbed her wrists and pulled her tight to my chest. She felt good in my arms.

Damn fuckin’ good.

“How do you always smell like that?” I whispered in her ear, slowly starting to dance.

“Smell like what?”

“Edible.”

“Are you saying you wanna eat me, Jackson Pierce?”

“Now that’s a loaded question if I ever heard one, Harley Jameson.”

Her heart began pounding against mine.

“Am I making your heart beat fast?”

“No.”

“No?”

“If it’s beatin’ fast, it’s only cuz I’m waitin’ for you to do somethin’ horrible to me.”

“Oh, come on, I’m not that bad.”

“You’re rotten to the core. What’s gotten into you anyway?”

“I don’t know. Weddings and all that, I guess. Sunshine and happiness, like Skyler always says.”

“Oh... so you’re feelin’ nostalgic, for what exactly? Cuz I think I saw Willow around here somewhere. I’m sure she’ll do whatever you—”

“Fuck her.”

“I thought you were.”

Willow was Journey’s babysitter. My old man hired her over two years ago to help when Mary Poppins went to nursing school.

She’d sucked my cock a few times—nothing more, nothing less.

“I’m not fuckin’ her, Harley.”

“Oh.”

I spun her, bringing her back to me. “Would it bother you if I was?”

“No.”

“No?”

“Why would it bother me?”

“Why wouldn’t it?”

“And, of course, answerin’ a question with a question. How I love this game,” she sarcastically remarked, making me chuckle.

“Everyone at school thinks you’re fuckin’ her.”

“Everyone at school thinks I’m fuckin’ you too.”

It was true.

We spent a lot of time together because of our families. It was only natural they assumed something was happening behind closed doors between us.

It was the only rumor I never denied. I don’t know why, I just didn’t.

She rolled her eyes. “Ugh. Don’t remind me. You know it would probably help if you actually said we weren’t, so I wouldn’t have to keep tellin’ people I hate you and we’re not doin’ it.”

“Where would the fun be in that?”

“And by fun, you mean torturin’ me?”

“Always.”

“Are you ever gonna give me the videos you still have of me?”

“Again, where would the fun be in that, Gremlin?”

“Rudolph, you’re so lucky people are around us, or I would have kneed you in the balls by now.”
