That has them laughing as I walk away, unable to fathom what the hell they are talking about. I head toward the player meeting room with my sisters in tow, both laughing and snickering. Basically, making me wish I had left them at the hotel. Oh, that would have made everything so much better. Well, not really, because Dimitri still read my book. Jackass.

When I stop at my office to drop off my stuff, Louisa leans on my desk. “It’s sturdy.”

I give her a dry look. “Shut up.”

“He could take you against this.”

“Stop it,” I warn, and she just giggles as Eliza shrugs.

“I mean, I’m sure he’d be down.”

“And I guess you got hit against the headboard too hard, too,” I throw at her, and she nods.

“Oh, I love it too, so you aren’t hurting my feelings,” she retorts, grinning. “You should try it.”

Heat swirls in my stomach at the mere thought of that, especially if it were Dimitri causing it. I’m brought back to the memory of the way he moved against the ice, his hips so strong and dangerous. I grip the desk for support as my breath escapes me.

“Jesus, do you need a moment?” Eliza asks.

“I’ve got my vibrator in my purse, or we can call Dimitri,” Louisa suggests.

I shoot her a dark look. “You know you two sound like feral sex freaks.”

“We are,” Eliza says. “And I’m okay with that. Get on our level. We have snacks and T-shirts already made for new members.”

Oh, my life is trash.

“I’m not on any level at this point,” I exclaim as I shake my head, grabbing my notepad. “I have this meeting. You two can explore the building, and then I’ll come get you for practice. If anyone asks, just say I’m your sister. Everyone is really nice, but please don’t embarrass me.”

“Would we do that?” Eliza asks, and I hold her gaze.

“Yes, Eliza. You’ve been embarrassing me since you set eyes on him!”

“Ouch. I thought we were endearing?” Louisa says, and Eliza nods, feigning hurt.

“He enjoyed us, I’m sure,” she says, and I glare.

“Because he likes attention,” I snap, and before they can say anything I’m sure will have me hiding behind my hands, I walk out because I know they want to laugh at me.

I might hate them.

I head out of my office to continue toward the player meeting room. I hear laughter and jeering like I always do when I get around the guys as I reach the hall. They generally don’t settle until the coaches start the meeting, but they’re usually a good time. With so many of them, the laughter is loud, but that may be good. I hope everyone ignores me, because I don’t have the patience or the time for anyone’s crap. I head into the meeting with my head held high, hoping that I’m not still blushing like crazy and that Dimitri isn’t here yet.

No such luck. He stands on the third stair of the auditorium, and when his lips part to make a smile, my breath catches.

He’s wearing white vampire fangs.

What. The. Hell.

“Hey there, sugar,” someone calls, and I freeze. It’s what Claudius calls Lizza in the book because he’s addicted to her blood like a child is to a sugary treat. I look toward the voice I heard to find Teddy with vampire fangs in his mouth, snapping them at me. As I look around the room, I see everyone has them, grinning like idiots. Well, except Flynn. He’s chomping a beef stick with his, which, at any other time, I’d find so damn funny. But today…today, I may die. My whole body goes hot, my face burning as my gaze settles on Dimitri.

Who is grinning like he is just too pleased with himself.

I refuse to give him what he wants. He wants the reaction, he wants me to yell and be mad at him, but I refuse. I head toward him, and everyone starts razzing and laughing, but they fall silent when I go toe-to-toe with Dimitri. The fangs bite into his bottom lip, and his eyes are full of nothing but mischief. Oh my God, he’s so stunning, and I hate him. I have to. Shouldn’t I?

I’m shaking. My eye twitches, I am so mad, so embarrassed, but I don’t release his gaze.

No matter how hot he makes me.

“Do you like our teeth, sugar?” he draws out.

And without hesitation, I say the words I wanted to say earlier, “Fuck. You.”

I always thought that was the most offensive thing you could say to someone, but Dimitri, his grin just grows as he leans in, his eyes burning into mine. Heat is pouring off his body in waves as he towers over me. I should be scared, I should want to run away and hide, but I don’t move. His breath is hot against my nose as he whispers roughly, “Fuck me?” He enunciates the words in a slow and deliberate way. “Name the time and place, Janie, and we’ll see who fucks whom.”
