There have been times when he came close to me, wrapped an arm around me, leaned into me. Especially in public when we’ve made appearances. Every time he did so, I stiffened. He is repulsive. I hated him near me. Maybe that’s why he never took me to his bed.

I don’t feel that way with Papi. I crave his touch even though I’ve done nothing but argue the opposite from the moment I met him. I feel bereft when he puts any sort of distance between us.

Surgient hands something to Papi. “I’ll go get her a bottle. Insert this as deep as you can and diaper her. She’ll most likely eliminate her bowels soon after her feeding. Then she can sleep for a few hours. I’ll monitor her closely between feedings. As long as I don’t see any evidence of cramping or excessive bleeding, I’ll release you to make the trip home tomorrow sometime.”

“Thank you so much.”

Surgient comes to my side and smooths his hand over my forehead. “I know that was stressful, Little one. You did well. You were very brave. It was nice meeting you. I’ll check on you several times before you leave.”

I’m slightly relieved when Surgient exits the room, but Papi takes his place between my legs. I don’t even argue when he pushes the large suppository into my bottom. It’s nothing compared to several other things that have happened to me in the past hour.

When he removes the restraint over my waist, I hold my breath, willing him to release the rest of me. But his intent is simply to make it possible to lift my bottom a few inches so he can slide a diaper under my hips. It’s not until he has secured it that he releases the rest of my restraints.

I’m trembling violently as I lower my arms.

He scoops me up immediately, cradling me against his chest. His bare chest. He took his shirt off at some point. In fact, he’s changed all of his clothes. When I met him, he was in a suit. Now he’s wearing nothing but a pair of comfortable-looking black sweatpants and casual slip-on shoes.

I instantly feel calmer when my chest presses against his. I crave this contact. It’s the oddest feeling.

I can’t bring my legs together, but as I squirm in his arms, trying to get closer to him, I realize the IV is gone. I glance down. “When did he remove the IV?”

Papi chuckles. “Right after the IUD.”

“Must I wear a diaper?” I inquire.

He kisses my forehead. “Always, Little one. End of discussion.”

I sigh, too tired to argue this point further right now. “Are you really going to feed me a bottle? Like a baby?”

He’s rocking me back and forth like a human would rock a baby. But I’m not a baby. “Yes. You’ll need to stick strictly to formula for a while. It will help your body adjust.”

I curl up my nose. “That sounds gross.”

“It’s not, Baby girl. I’ve never heard of a single female disliking the formula. It will be a new flavor to you, but I guarantee you’ll like it. You must be starving. Your tummy has been growling for a while.”

I might be hungry. I haven’t had much chance to think about it. “Could I drink it from a cup, Papi?” I inquire hopefully.

He smiles and kisses me. “No, Little girl. The bottles help us bond. I will always hold you while I feed you. They also help control the flow so you don’t drink too fast. The formula is scientifically engineered to be perfect for your size. It has exactly the nutrients you need to thrive. You’ll feel better than you’ve ever felt in your life after a few weeks on Eleadia. The air is cleaner. Oxygen gets into your lungs in a clearer form. Our food is organic and local. It’s strictly plant based.”

I’m fascinated and listen to him intently.

“It will take six months to arrive,” he continues.

I gasp. “Six months?”

“Yes. You’ll be in stasis during that time. Your body can’t accommodate that much time in space. I’ll be taking care of you. When we arrive, you’ll be very weak at first. I don’t want it to frighten you. Most Little girls need about two weeks to get their strength back. Even your speech will take a few days to return. Papi will be with you every step of the way. I’ll keep you safe at all times.”

I’m mesmerized and scared out of my mind. “What if I don’t like it there?”

“You will, Little one.”

“What if you decide you don’t want to be mated to me?”

“That’s not a thing on our planet, Kendra. We’re mated now. Our bodies will forever be drawn together. We will feel the loss when we are apart. We will feel most peaceful when we are touching skin to skin like this.”
