To say I’m attracted to her physically is an understatement. I can’t get the woman off my mind even when I’m sleeping. She infiltrates damn near every thought while I’m awake and shows up regularly in my dreams.

I have to wonder if it’s her connection to Vaughn, and that loss I still feel all these years later is why I seem to be clinging to the idea of us together, but I know it’s more than that. Devyn just has something about her that makes men stop and take notice, and it’s more than her looks.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve pictured her in my future. It’s almost enough to scare me away because those thoughts have never crossed my mind. I was never the type of man to consider a wife and kids. I never wanted to get close to someone enough that losing them would hurt me the way it has in the past. I’ve never gotten close to friends or any of the women I’ve been with in the past. Devyn seems to have the uncanny ability to change all of that for me, and that’s what makes her so damn dangerous. I want to pull her to me and shove her away all at the same time. My luck is sure to change, and I can’t imagine losing her. We’ve only been around each other for a couple of weeks. She’d be impossible to get over now, not to mention how hard that loss would be if we spent a lengthy amount of time together.

“I thought you were leaving,” she says, her body so close to mine, I swear I can feel the heat from her skin.

“I need to,” I whisper, dropping my hand to her hip when she steps in even closer.

When her lips brush my neck, I know fighting it any longer would be an absolute waste of time.

I reach up, tangling my hand in her hair. The gasp that escapes her lips makes me rock hard.

“You’ll ruin another pair of panties,” I warn.

She licks her lips before speaking. “I’m not wearing any.”

My mouth hangs open in shock, my cock jerking from need in my jeans.

“You’re so fucking naughty,” I growl, pressing my lips to her cheek before stepping back.

“You’re a tease,” she groans, her arms dropping to her sides. “Will we ever fuck?”

That filthy word on her pretty pink lips is almost too much.

I shake my head. “I’ll never fuck you, Devyn.”

Her face falls as if someone just told her Santa doesn’t exist for the very first time.

“No matter how rough I get with you, it’ll never be fucking.”

She swallows, her throat working as she realizes what I’m promising.

I turn and walk out of the room, her laughter tickling my back when I reach down and readjust myself again.

I find several of the guys in the garage when I enter, needing a little time away from her before I forget all the reasoning of taking it slow with her.

“He looks like he needs to get away too,” Stormy says, pointing in my direction as I cross the room to grab a beer.

“Where are you going?” I ask. I haven’t heard news of a new job, and since our team was one of the ones to go out last time, there’s an unlikely chance that we’ll get to go out on the very next one.

“My little brother is getting married,” Jinx says. “I was told there was an open invitation to Cerberus for anyone who wanted to attend.”

“I think your sister wants Cerberus there,” Rocker says, hinting that his sister may have the hots for men in leather cuts.

Jinx shakes his head, but there’s no mirth on his face.

“I think all the shit that went down with Cortez and the abductions are the reasons for the invite. They figure with us there, everything will be safer,” Jinx says.

“Cortez?” Newton asks.

Jinx proceeds to tell the three new guys what happened in Lindell, Texas, his hometown, in the last year. He goes over the abductions and Angel Guerra’s role in all of it.

“Cortez has been neutralized,” I remind him.

“The town is still pretty shook up about it,” Jinx says.

“I’ll go,” I volunteer. No one’s special day should be ruined by fear, despite the world we live in today.

Several of the other guys also volunteer.

“It’s in a couple weeks,” Jinx says. “I’ll cover the cost of tickets.”

“If enough people agree to go, I’m sure Kincaid would let us use the jet,” Rocker says as he lifts his beer to his lips.

I take a drink of mine too. I know I’m well and truly fucked when I can’t decide if I’ll be able to stay away from Devyn, even for only a long weekend.

Chapter 25

Devyn

I shake out my hands as I wait to the side. I feel like everyone knows why I’m here. It’s as if everyone who passes by while Oracle deals with the clerk on grabbing our room keys knows we’re going to a sex club later. The lobby would be less busy if we waited until later, but the visit to the club will go well into the night. It just makes more sense to get keys now.
