Roman wasn’t far behind her.
Her name was a growl, taken on the breeze like his name had been.
“That felt so fucking incredible,” he said. “I couldn’t wait another second, I had to have you.” He pressed kisses against her neck, licking at her pulse.
“I can’t believe we just did that,” she said.
“We’re going to have to get in all the practice now. When we’re alone with the kids, that is going to be an impossible task, or so I’ve heard,” Roman said.
She laughed. “You’re already thinking about what our sex life is going to be like when we’re back home?”
“Aren’t you?”
Alex held up her thumb and finger, holding them close together. “A little.”
“I’m thinking about it a lot. I feel there are going to be a lot of bribes in my future.” He kissed her neck.
She had started to notice that Roman was never in a rush to … move. Not after he’d come, and she had to wonder if that was because he liked being inside her? Did he? Or was she reading too much into it?
“You know, we haven’t had much of a honeymoon,” he said.
“Do you think now is a good time to think of one?”
“I can’t think of a better time than now to think of one.”
She loved the way his hands roamed over her body. Each touch set her on fire, making her ache for more of him.
Alex never thought they would be like this. She wasn’t complaining as this felt amazing to her, real, the truth.
At the sudden sound of his name being called, Alex sighed.
“Fuck.”
“Did you sneak out to be with me?” Alex asked.
“Yeah. Being around our dads all day is fucking exhausting. Count yourself lucky.”
“I’m in a house I don’t know, bored.”
“It could be worse,” he said.
“How?”
“Besides the obvious, you could have no husband trying to fuck you every single chance he got,” Roman said.
He eased out of her and slowly pressed the skirt down. The moment she stood up, Alex felt his release spilling from her.
Roman cupped her face with both of his hands and tilted her head back. “I’ll see you soon.”
She nodded.
He pressed his lips together, but this wasn’t a sweet kiss. It was possessive. The kind that made her close her eyes and think of Roman, naked, taking her.
“Think of me.”
She had to make a quick trip to her bedroom, take a shower, and change, and there was no way she was going to stop thinking about him.
Roman took her hand, leading her back to the main gardens. It was Antonio who had come for him.
The other man smiled at her, giving her a wave. She simply held her hand up. Antonio, Marlo, and Cash had always been a little too familiar with her. It was why she tried to keep her distance from them. They made her a little uneasy.
Heading back into the house, she kept her head down, convinced everyone who looked at her already knew the truth about what she and Roman had done. They all knew what had happened.
She was sure of it.
Arriving at her bedroom, she went straight to the bathroom, humming to herself as she turned on the hot water to the shower. She didn’t waste any time, removing her clothes and stepping into the shower.
The moment she was beneath the hot water, she tilted her head back and gave a sigh of relief.
It felt good.
She quickly washed her body and between her thighs. With her hair already wet, she quickly shampooed her hair, and after rinsing, she turned the water off. Grabbing a towel, she stepped out of the shower. She took another towel to wrap up her hair, heading into the bathroom.
She went to the closet and quickly rummaged through the clothes, settling on a dress with a cardigan. Before she left, she picked out a couple of items of underwear, lifting them against her body and then moving back into the bedroom.
She placed them on the bed and frowned when she caught sight of a single file laying on the bed.
Had Roman been back to the bedroom?
Reaching for the file, she frowned when she caught sight of the title of the orphanage her father had been investing in for years. The kids.
She opened it immediately and sat on the edge of the bed, reading through the few documents that were there. They weren’t adoption documents though.
Alex frowned as she looked at birth certificates. There were exactly fifteen certificates, but each one she looked at, she turned over, and there were other names on the back. Names she recognized because they had been at her wedding.
Under all the documents was a sheet. A printed-out copy of the children who had been there before, their adoption status, and their real parents’ names.
The kids were … she couldn’t bring herself to even say it, nor think it.
