The shower water still isn’t hot when I walk back into my bathroom, no steam is billowing from the stall, and there is no way in hell I’d stick my foot, let alone my body, in the cold, frigid water. Here I stand, still coming down from a Phoenix high, wishing he had stayed. I would have promised to keep my hands to myself with my fingers crossed behind my back because there’s no way I actually would have succeeded. His body is too delicious to not touch, lick, or taste. And that small taste, not even from the source but mixed with my skin, it was a tease, and I’m going to do everything in my power to make Nix lose control.
“Finally.” I can feel the room getting hotter, so I move the shower curtain to the side, cup of coffee in my hand, placing it on the built-in shelf, once again not letting it go to waste. I grab the clip, shocked that it’s actually where I left it because I’m known for leaving them all around the house. Rory rarely uses them, preferring to use hair ties, keeping it around her wrist constantly. Emmy is into big silk-like scrunchies that she loses constantly. The hot water beats on my back. I’m unable to turn into the water, unwilling to lose what I have left of Nix just yet. Call me crazy, but I’m not ready. Instead, I close my eyes and reach for my cup of coffee without opening them. The same routine for years now when I have the time. I smile at how I’ve gone through a shit ton of turmoil through the years. A home life that wasn’t the most ideal, then starting a family entirely too young. Totally worth it, though. Marrying the man I thought was going to be my forever, him walking out like we were disposable, and then I had my name tarnished. I didn’t let it keep me down. There was no way I could fall into a pit of despair. As much as I would have loved to drop to my bed, bury myself under the covers, and sleep the pain away, I had two girls who needed their mother. Coming back swinging was my only option.
“Leigh, how are you still in the shower, woman?” I’m knocked out of my moment and jump backwards, coffee hitting my chest since I picked up the cup to have another sip, and under the water I go.
“Phoenix Drakos, I’m going to take your code to my damn house away. I literally just got in here, and now my coffee is ruined, my hair is wet, and so am I!” I exclaim, annoyed that now his cum that was dried on my body is being washed away. A few more minutes, that’s all I was hoping for.
“Fuck yeah, you are. What have you been doing the last thirty minutes?” He keeps the shower curtain open and leans against the wall, hair wet, freshly shaven in the areas he’s not growing a beard, wearing a fresh shirt and pair of jeans. Nix, with his piercing blue eyes, looks utterly unashamed as he licks his lower lip, watching as the water cascades down my body.
“Waiting for the water to get hot since no one’s used it since sometime yesterday, made my now ruined cup of coffee, and then I was enjoying my time without two girls barging in. It looks like I got a better surprise. Care to drop the clothes and join me?” I grab the soap, ready to hand it to him.
“I’ll make you another cup, and I’m not joining you. Yet. Think you can be ready in twenty minutes? Emmy texted me when she couldn’t get ahold of you. She’s done hanging out with her friend and is ready to go see Ya-Ya, her words verbatim,” Nix tells me, completely sounding like my youngest child. She’s a social butterfly for all of maybe twenty-four hours if you’re lucky, then she’s ready to be with her family.
“Fine, I’ll hurry up. I swear the one day I get to take a shower in peace will be the day.” I thrust my cup of coffee at him, letting him know it’s a necessity if he wants me to move my ass.
“Ma’am, yes ma’am.” He takes the cup, but not without looking me up and down. A groan works its way up his throat, and when I think he’s going to give in to what I so clearly am willing to give him, he turns on his heel and walks out.

NIX
“Mammy llama, looking good there, lady fox,” Emmy greets Rosaleigh once my truck is in park at her friend’s house. Next up is Rory. She was slower to respond, enjoying her time, going with the flow.
