“I’ll go buy you some.” Shoot. Did her budget stretch to beer? Well, with all the food that Renard brought over, then she guessed she could manage it.
“Yeah, I don’t think so.” He moved so he was crouching in front of her. “Only place you’re going, baby, is to bed.”
Holy. Crap.
Her heart might have just stopped for a moment.
“For a nap.” His eyes went slightly lazy with arousal. “Although I like where your mind was going.”
Yikes.
“Come on.” Standing, he held out his hand to her. “Let’s get you into bed. For your nap.”
“B-bed?”
“Yeah, you can’t nap on this couch. This thing is torturous.” He stretched out his back.
“Sorry.” She winced. It was pretty uncomfortable. “Like everything else, it came with the apartment.”
“It needs to go to the dump.”
When she didn’t put her hand in his, he simply reached down and picked her up, putting his hands under her armpits. Then he took her hand to lead her to the bedroom.
“Um, wait, Raid!” she said, trying to dig in her heels.
But it was pointless. He was a man on a mission.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
“I can take myself to bed!”
“I want to tuck you in.”
He . . . he what?
Then he opened the door, and it was too late to stop him.
He walked into the room, seemingly oblivious to her discomfort. Although she figured that he’d noticed and was just ignoring it.
He paused, glancing down at her bed. “Are you a restless sleeper, darlin’?”
“What do you mean?”
“All your blankets are on the floor.” He let go of her hand and moved to the side of the bed, staring down at the mess, then over at her. “And so are the pillows. Darlin’ . . .”
She swallowed heavily and wrapped her arms around herself. “I don’t, um . . . I don’t like to sleep in the bed.”
“Is it uncomfortable too?” Then he did something she hadn’t seen coming . . . he lay on his back on her bed.
Raid Malone was in her bed.
Holy. Crap.
“Not too bad, considering,” he said. “A bit small. Mine is a Californian king.”
“I thought you lived in the bunkhouse at the ranch?”
“Oh yeah, but I bought myself a big-ass bed and set it up in my room there. Takes up most of the room. But it’s totally worth it. Raid needs space.”
“I feel like referring to yourself in the third person might be a sign that you need to have a few chats with Molly.”
“Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Seriously, Beau had T-shirts made for us all. Only Tanner and I wear them, though. Sometimes Butch.”
She gaped at him.
“What’s with sleeping on the floor, baby?” he asked, sitting at the end of her bed.
Hannah chewed her lip. What to tell him?
“The truth.” It was said in a low, firm voice. One she was coming to recognize meant that he expected to be obeyed.
“So bossy.”
“Hannah.”
“And stubborn.”
“Hannah,” he said warningly.
“What if I want some privacy? What if I don’t want to tell you?” She held herself tighter.
“Come here, darlin’.” He pointed at the floor between his feet.
She shook her head.
“Come here.”
Without thinking about it, she found herself moving. Crap.
“Are you sure you’re not a Dom?” She didn’t know why she said it. She didn’t mean to say it. But it just popped out.
Fuck.
“I didn’t mean to, uh, I mean . . .”
“I’ve never been to a BDSM club. But I might have some interest in it. Definitely not against it. Not if it would mean giving you what you need.”
“You can’t . . . I mean, you shouldn’t change yourself for me.”
“I wasn’t intending to change myself. I’m being me right now.”
“Are you saying you’re always this bossy?” She gaped at him.
“With you, I am.” He grinned. “And I like it. I like the way you react to me. I like the idea of getting you to a place where I can take full control and give you pleasure. Besides, I’ve always liked to be in control in the bedroom. Not a huge stretch to think I might enjoy being a Dominant.”
Uh, well, it might be.
“You . . . I mean, you don’t just wake up one morning and decide to be a Dominant.”
“You don’t? How does it happen then?”
“You think about it, agonize over it, read about it, experience it, and then you decide.”
“Good. That’s what I’ll do then.”
“Are you sure that you earned that T-shirt?” she asked.
“What?”
“The one that Beau printed you after your sessions with Molly.”
He threw back his head and laughed. And it felt like her entire body warmed. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt this warm. And it had nothing to do with the temperature or weather. And everything to do with him.
With the way that Raid made her feel.
“You leave that for me to worry about, all right? I don’t think that you’re planning to go to Saxon’s anytime soon to play. Am I right?” His voice was so gentle that it made her blink back tears.
