"Okay, what are you going to do?"

I drum my fingers on my thighs, as my gaze burns a hole into the back of Drew's head. "I'll ask him."

Marco laughs, then stops when he sees my flat expression. "You're serious. But why would he willingly tell you anything?"

"Because unless he's changed personalities over the past week, he won't be able to keep himself from boasting about how he pulled whatever he thinks he’s pulled off."

I take a deep breath, gearing myself up for the confrontation. As Drew makes his way back down the aisle, I lean forward in my seat, blocking his path.

"Hey there," he greets me, the same fake smile plastered on his face.

"What do you have on Sally?" I demand, cutting straight to the chase.

Drew's expression falters for just a second before he recovers. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't play dumb with me. She's been acting strange around you all flight, and it's not because she likes you."

He chuckles, but there's a hint of nervousness in the sound. "I don't know what you're imagining, Filia. Sally and I have a perfectly professional relationship."

I narrow my eyes at him. "Then why did you get me fired? And why won't Sally tell me what's going on?"

Drew shrugs. "I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe you should focus on your own life and stop trying to make trouble for others."

My blood boils at his dismissive attitude. "You're lying. I know something's going on and I won't stop until I find out the truth."

Drew rolls his eyes. "Fine. You want the truth? Sally owes me."

"Owes you how?"

He looks over at Marco. "Remember that stunt you pulled to get his attention?"

My eyes widen in shock. "The wine spill?"

"The customer was furious. He was going to have Sally fired. I stepped in, took charge, made a deal with her."

My mind is racing as I parse all this. "You put the blame on me so she'd have to do whatever you wanted. That's disgusting."

"You'd rather she get fired? That's so noble of you. Go on, then." He laughs. "Call corporate when we land and get your job back. I applaud your skin-saving urge."

Flushing in anger, I clench up, spoiling to punch him in his smug face. Then I spot Sally smiling kindly at an older woman. She's helping her with a pair of headphones. My body deflates. I can't do that to her.

Drew sighs. "Go sit down, Filia. You lost, I won. That's it."

Angling my chin up I stare him down hard. "We'll see." Spinning, I march back to my seat. Marco watches me approach with a mild frown. "He's such an ass," I grumble, buckling myself back in.

"What did he say?"

"Sally almost getting fired was my fault."

Marco sits forward sharply. "How can that be?"

"Because he's blackmailing her!" I'm pissed off, but as I look at Marco, I realize how my story is about to sound. "The wine that was spilled on a passenger, remember that? Sally did it so I could slip off to spend time with you. It was such a dumb idea." I notice Marco brighten up. "Why are you smiling?"

"Because it wasn't a dumb idea." His lips press to my temple. "Sally is why we got that extra moment together on that flight. She's a wonderful friend."

"Then I'm the one who sucks," I mutter.

His face softens. "Ready for that revenge I offered?"

I start to shake my head, then stop. "Actually, I am."

Marco grins wickedly. His fingers slip into mine, holding tight. "Wait until you see the fireworks." He pulls out his phone, scrolling across the screen. I'm about to point out we have no WiFi before I realize he does. Marco has paid for the over-priced internet; choppy, broken, rarely helpful, I've never used it. Plus, it costs a fortune.

Whatever he's doing has his eyes narrowed intently. Minutes later, his thumb taps hard; he puts his phone away. "There," he chuckles, pulling me closer, "it's done."

"What?"

"You'll see."

My heart is racing. I don't know what he did but I'm sure it's going to stun me. My whole body is buzzing. Gripping his knee, I whisper in his ear. "Speaking of fireworks, let's make some of our own."

I stand up, heading to the bathroom. Marco stares and I give him a come-hither wink. I enter the room, closing the door behind me but not locking it. I'm certain he's going to follow me.

The thought of it is enough that I’m already getting wet, my pulse is racing.

Sure enough, seconds later, Marco slips through the door and locks it behind him. His face is flushed and his eyes are bright with anticipation. His lips part as he takes in the tight quarters of the airplane bathroom and I can feel my heart pounding in my chest.

I lean against the wall, my gaze traveling slowly down his body before coming back up to meet his eyes. He steps closer to me, our chests just brushing together and sending a wave of electricity through me. His hands reach out to trace a path up my sides, his fingers lightly brushing over the fabric of my shirt as he pulls me closer to him.
