I pick her up, legs around my waist, and slide back inside her. She holds onto my shoulders as I lift her on and off me, making sure to hit all her right spots.

“It’s so deep, Daddy,” she cries out, and hearing the sound of her voice awakens more of the animal in me. I fuck her hard and with a wild intensity. She squeezes my shoulders, panting and purring, and cries, “You’re making me come.”

That’s all I need to hear. I pull her down on my cock and bust inside her, both of us reaching the peak at the same time.

As we lie in bed savoring the soft moments that follow, she runs a finger down my chest. “We should do something with Macy tomorrow. Maybe a trip to the park or the zoo.”

“That sounds nice. We can do that,” I tell her, holding her until she falls asleep in my arms.

Macy is spinning in circles in the kitchen when I come down for coffee, one hand holding a pink unicorn stuffed toy.

“What is all this excitement about?” I ask as Jessie hands me a cup.

“Jessie said we’re going on an adventure today and you’re coming, Uncle!”

“An adventure? Why didn’t anyone tell me?” I joke to her then turn my attention to Jessie. “Why did you let me sleep so long?”

“Because in all the time I’ve known you, you’ve never slept in. When you didn’t wake up before me, I figured you must have needed it. Besides, you aren’t working today, right? We’re taking Macy out.”

“I do have to make a couple of calls first. I’ll do that while you finish up in here.”

Taking my coffee to my office, I make a call to Rory who’s taking care of some business in the city for me.

“Do you need me to come to the house, boss?”

“No, listen to me carefully. I’m taking the girls to the zoo today. I need a security detail, but I don’t want them to make it too obvious. They need to be close but not too close, understand? Just like last night.”

“I don’t like the idea of keeping them back. They’re supposed to take bullets for you. They can’t do that from down the street.”

“Just do what I say. I don’t want Jessie to feel like she’s in danger.”

“But… she is in danger every time she steps out of the house with you.”

“Don’t you think I know that? Now, do as I say.”

“Okay, I’ll make the call.”

I return to the kitchen to find Jessie packing a small cooler with water, juice, and snacks for Macy. “Alright, ladies, are we ready for our adventure?”

“Yes, yes, yes!” Macy shouts, raising her small fists in the air.

We head out to the garage and I click the button on the remote for the SUV.

“We’re taking this?” Macy asks.

“It’s more…well…family-friendly than my Porsche, no?” I leave out the part about the bulletproof glass in the tinted windows.

As we pull down the driveway to the gates, I check the rearview mirror and see the boys gearing up to follow us. Three black sedans and a matching van. In the van are medical supplies, extra weapons, and a refrigerator filled with bags of blood in all of our blood types. It wasn’t easy getting Jessie’s blood type from the orphanage, but with a little persuasion, nothing is impossible.

“Where are we going?” Macy asks.

“We’re going to see the monkeys,” I answer and watch her face light up.

Jessie takes my hand and grins, “Thank you for doing this. I know it’s hard for you to take a day off and just relax.”

“I told you, anything for you. Anything.”

The zoo is crowded and my senses are on high alert. I can’t help but scan the crowd looking for the devil’s face on every person that passes too closely. Jessie senses my tension and whispers, “You’re wound up so tight. Was this a bad idea?”

“Not at all, sweetheart. It’s just new for me.”

I take Jessie’s hand in one of mine and Macy’s in the other, and we walk from exhibit to exhibit. The more time we spend, the more relaxed I become, but for me, letting my guard down is the most reckless thing I can do.

We stop at the concession stand and pick up sandwiches for a picnic lunch in the grass. Jessie and Macy have just sat down when I hear the first bullet ring out. It flies past my ear, and my eyes flick to both of them. I have a small pistol in my ankle holster, but it won’t do much if I’m under full attack.

Jessie and Macy are my first priority, so I pull out my weapon and run as fast as I can to them.

They don’t move. Macy is curled up on Jessie’s lap. She’s crying and Jessie is trying to console her as she turns her head wildly, trying to see what’s going on.
