“Because there isn’t. Your pup is wonderfully cute and he loves showing off how special he is.” Waving my hand toward a still napping Ian, I lifted one shoulder. “And our boy…the little who zooms and giggles? He’s going to love playing with his new friend.”

Bishop went very still before shifting his hand and slowly stroking the top of my thigh. “A friend? I hadn’t thought about it like that.”

I had.

“Every boy needs a dog. This is that idea taken to the next level. Every little needs a pup to play with and to love unconditionally.” I thought it made complete sense. “He doesn’t have to worry about what a pup is thinking. He just has to play and laugh and give you pets while you cuddle against him. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the easiest relationship any of us have ever had.”

And honestly, how much worry and drama could there be when neither of them talked or seemed to have any deep thoughts in that headspace?

“He is fast…but so am I.” The part that Bishop grabbed onto was interesting but not wrong.

“I agree. It’s a good match energy-wise.” And as quickly as little Ian had peeked out this morning with just the idea that he could pick out toys for the pup, I didn’t think there were going to be any problems.

Except maybe getting my pup in the right headspace.

Shifting, I pulled Bishop down so he was lying on my lap. He laughed but cuddled against me and seemed to be smiling as he looked at our boy. “Playing with my pup would make him relaxed.”

It wasn’t quite a question or a statement, but I nodded anyway. “Yes, I think he’d find it very relaxing and a good way to push aside the stress of the real world.”

It was going to be good for both of them.

Softly stroking Bishop’s head, I tried to show him how confident I was by remaining relaxed and focusing on the silly parts of the whole day. “Don’t forget that I’m a fabulous Dom who saved you from the ruler.”

Snorting back a giggle, Bishop relaxed more as his giggles faded. “God. He really searched Ian’s house for a ruler.”

Some people were just very…earnest?

Ian collected the most interesting people, so I was starting to see how he’d ended up with us without much drama or shock…we were the most boring people he knew.

“I’m just glad he didn’t find one.” I still wasn’t sure how they would’ve made that work without accidentally damaging Bishop.

I really was going to have to question Preston about the social etiquette around telling another Dom’s sub no…and to put more clothes on…and God, what happened if I needed to fuss at one of the single ones?

“If he’d been drunk, I’d have just ignored it, but he was sober.” Bishop’s head rocked back and forth as he let out a soft chuckle. “Ian’s friends are very interesting.”

I loved how our minds were on the same page, but I had to poke him. “We’re his friends and his partners, pup. What does that make us?”

“Fascinating, of course.” He hid his face against my leg and giggled as I gave his ass a swat.

Someone was in need of a spanking, but that would have to wait.

“Yeah, fascinating.” Leaning over, I kissed his head. “How about we go upstairs and I get this fascinating pup ready to play?”

Bishop went still before taking a breath and rolling over on the couch to stare up at me. “I’m ready, Sir.”

We’d see about that.

“I’m glad, pup.”

He might’ve been ready but the negotiations in the bedroom took a while.

We finally settled on him being clothed in a tight muscle shirt and biker shorts with his tail in a harness over his pants. He fully admitted that he preferred his usual way with me, but he was convinced that he shouldn’t be a naked pup in front of a little.

I understood the logic and helped him get ready, but I had to admit I was fully prepared to go all handler on his worried ass if he couldn’t find the right headspace because of all his fears about little Ian seeing his plugged tail.

But while it was a slower process, eventually he was my excited pup, nuzzling me for pets and running back and forth between the stairs and my room. I let the excitement build for a while before I took his not-so-subtle hint.

“Should we go wake up Ian? Hmm, do you want to play with your friend?” I wasn’t sure how long a nap would last for Ian, but he’d been down for a while so that was my justification. But I was going to be a good Dom and make sure our boy got an early bedtime.

Bishop gave a low, deep bark that made it clear he was ready for his friend…and that I’d been ridiculous for taking so long. It was amazing what a bark and expressive eyes behind a mask could convey. “Alright, let’s go find him.”
