When he could breathe, Evan wrapped his arms around her and rolled their bodies so she rested against his side. Quickly, he removed the condom and dropped it, wrapped in a tissue from the nightstand, onto the floor. Kissing her forehead, Evan held her close.
“Mine,” he repeated.
“Daddy,” she replied, pressing a kiss to his chest before closing her eyes to enjoy their closeness.
Chapter Twelve
“What would you like to do today, Little girl?” Evan asked as he put the last of their breakfast dishes into the sink.
“I don’t know. What would you like to do?” she asked, not confident enough to tell him. Tori looked down at her bouncing leg and tried to stop fidgeting.
“Make you happy.”
“I’m pretty happy,” she answered, feeling her cheeks heat with embarrassment and knowing she was flushed.
“I’m pretty happy, too,” he assured her with a wink. “I don’t take a nap after waking up very often.”
That made her blush even more. Tori clapped her hands over her cheeks to cool them off. She’d loved drifting off to sleep in his arms after Evan had made love to her. When they’d woken up, he’d told her how absolutely perfect she was and how lucky he was to have found her.
Her Daddy had taken such good care of her. He’d drawn her a warm bath to soak in so she wouldn’t be sore. Tori squeezed her thighs and felt a bit of their lovemaking but only a pleasant reminder. She liked the feeling a lot. While she was lounging in the soothing water, he’d made breakfast and had everything ready for the delicious meal before coming to help her out of the tub. Now, he hadn’t even let her help with the dishes.
“How about if we play in your room this morning?” Evan suggested.
Tori nodded eagerly. She couldn’t wait to explore the toy box. That reminded her of the buzzy chair. “I don’t have to sit in the corner, do I?”
“Have you misbehaved, Curls?” he questioned, lifting an eyebrow in silent emphasis.
“No!” She shook her head emphatically. “I’ve been really good.”
“I think so, too,” he confirmed with a wink. “Hopefully, that naughty seat will get covered in dust when you don’t have to spend time there for a while.”
His face sobered before he added, “You will face that corner in the future, Little girl, and that’s okay. Everyone makes wrong decisions sometimes. That’s why there is a consequence. It wipes everything away so you can start fresh again.”
“I like that, Daddy. I try not to screw up but…”
“That’s all I ask. Oh, and I want you to talk to me if you think I’ve messed something up. Daddies need straightening out sometimes, too.”
“I can tell you if you do something that makes me sad?” she asked.
“You not only can—you need to,” he emphasized. “We need to talk to each other honestly, Curls. I can’t be the best Daddy ever if you don’t talk to me. It makes me happy when you tell me everything: how you feel, how Little you are at the moment, even something easy like if you need to wear a diaper or have Daddy’s attention.”
“Diapers aren’t easy,” she protested. That had been momentous for her to ask for.
“Diapers are easy for me to wrap around a sweet Little girl. Let’s go explore your nursery. I think I remember tucking puzzles and coloring books in the toy box.”
“And crayons?”
“Lots of colors,” he confirmed.
Tori slid from her chair and took her Daddy’s hand. She leaned away from him to tug Evan out of the chair he’d settled into as they talked. “Come on, Daddy. I want to look at everything.”
“I’m coming, Curls.”
Tori finished the large pink bunny picture she’d been working on for the last half hour. Her Daddy had finished his race car a long time ago. He didn’t color as well as she did but that didn’t matter. He’d torn the page out of the book and written Daddy and Curls with a big red heart in the middle at the bottom. Tori reached a finger out to trace over the letters. They were going to hang them on the refrigerator door when she finished.
She could still hear the shower going in the master bathroom. They were going to go out soon for lunch. Since Tori had already taken a bath, her Daddy had let her keep coloring so she could finish her picture. She looked at the next page. It would take too long, and Tori never liked to leave something half finished.
After putting away all the art supplies and coloring books, Tori pushed herself to standing and strolled down the hallway. Her Daddy had encouraged her to explore. First, she set their pages on the kitchen table before wandering through the house to check things out. She ended up in the office where she settled at his desk to look at the amazing book of photos he had given her earlier. His book. It felt so special, and she ran her fingers over the raised letters on the front before opening it. Each full-size picture was set on its own page with a large border around it.
