“Cobi wants to be married before school starts in the fall.” Her mouth drops open, and she looks like I just gave her the secret to eternal youth.

“You are kidding.” I shake my head no.

“You mean Joc the Wall wants to go to college married?” I shrug my shoulders.

“Yeah, that is what he wants.”

“Wow. You got the one guy who wants to be tied down. But what do you want?” It’s funny because with everything that has happened, I haven’t had a breath, a moment to reflect or think or even question all of this besides when I was questioning the pregnancy, but the truth is even if I did nothing would change.

“I want him. It’s that simple. I want every crazy, possessive, bossy, loving, and sexy part of him.” I want our baby. I want our love and the life we are fighting for. I don’t say this last part to her, but I am saying it in my heart.

“Well then. Just tell me I am your maid of honor? I mean I have to be. And I have to throw you a bachelorette party.” I begin shaking my head to protest because Cobi will flip his shit, but her enthusiastic excitement for my next step is infectious and before I know what I am doing, I am accepting her offer. “Yes.” I turn, realizing we are pulling into the parking lot and now my stomach is turning. It is finally hitting me that I am deliberately going against something he asked me not to do and he is not going to be happy.

“Alright bitch, let’s go!” We walk in, head up and smiles on our faces, feeling the sexy we are giving. This is my first game since we have been together, so I know people are going to be talking and whispering, but I intend to straighten my back and ignore them. It occurs to me that if we sit on one of the lower levels, off to the side, I might be able to see the game and then we leave before he knows I was there.

“Do you want something from concessions?” I ask her since we are passing it.

“Naw not right now. Half-time.” Nodding, I point out seats that are sort of hidden and she looks at me like I am crazy, but I simply walk toward it. I don’t realize my mistake until we are seated. Right behind the cheerleaders. Damn it.

“Is that Ripley?” I hear someone say beside me. I try to keep on ignoring the whispers. I won’t let them spoil my night.

“Do you see Cobi?” I ask Heather, yelling over the crowd. I am trying to find his number, but the stadium lights are kind of blinding.

“No I, wait, there he is?” She points to the middle of the field, and I finally see his jersey. His size is intimidating on a regular day but looking at him for the first time on the field, covered in all the gear and helmet on, he looks massive and formidable. I can’t see his eyes from here, but deciphering his body language, I know the look in his eyes. I have seen that look, the only difference being this time, he is looking to do damage. “Do you know football?” Heather asks me. I look at her to answer her, but I am interrupted by a nasally voice I could do without.

“She better since she’s the captain’s toy.” Leslie, Captain of the cheerleading team says, turning her nose up at me.

“Look, faux barbie, why don’t you turn around and split your crotch in half. Oops. Too late.” Heather sticks her tongue out at her, and I watch sort of amused when Leslie stomps off to where the other cheerleaders are. “God I hate her.” Heather says, applying more lipstick.

“She is definitely not one of my favorite people.” Then suddenly I watch Cobi tackle some guy to the ground and the player with the ball makes it over the line. We all stand, clapping and yelling for the touchdown. I turn to look at the bench, making sure I didn't leave a wet spot because watching him tackle someone like they weigh nothing was hot as hell. I have to look down and check my nipples to make sure they are not giving away too much.

We sit through the rest of the first half of the game, laughing, talking and enjoying the view but I can’t help but feel a little nervous. Half-time is coming and I know his parents and sister are here. If they see me, the jig is up.

The buzzer sounds signaling the end of the first half and the band takes the field for their show. “Come on. I want to grab something to eat before half-time is over.” Heather whispers in my ear. Nodding, I follow her to the concession stands. The line isn’t too long and so far I don’t see his family. “Do you know what you want?” Heather asks when we move up slightly.
