The Life of Tomlin TV crew was waiting by their van next to my Charger. They hadn’t been allowed to film our training session, but they’d already picked up their cameras and begun filming me as I walked over to my car.

“You coming tonight?” I asked Brent.

“Doubt it,” he said. “Steph and I are doing a date night tonight.”

Brent was only a year older than me, but he was already in a serious relationship that seemed headed for marriage. I still lived like a college kid who’d somehow become a millionaire and a celebrity over the past year, and I savored all of the fun I was having.

I gave Brent a little salute. “Well, you’re welcome to come by after you guys have sushi and a movie,” I said. “Have fun with the lady.”

“See you around, Tomlin,” he told me.

One of my cameramen hopped into the passenger seat of my car and I started off back up the mountain roads that led to my house. I’d gotten used to always being filmed, and I could picture myself on TV at all times: right now it would be a shot of me, serenely driving through the forest roads, pondering life and existence as one of the league’s youngest players.

But in reality, my mind was elsewhere.

I was thinking about my guest house. And how fucking badly I wanted it to get fixed up, already.

And the moment I started thinking about the guest house, my mind wandered over to the hot as fuck contractor I’d hired for the job a few days ago.

Nathan was one of those straight guys who were way too fun to fuck with. Just a little. I hadn’t been able to help myself, especially when he’d blushed from being called Daddy. I loved that something so simple had seemed to set him off, and I wondered if any guy had ever flirted with him before.

The day after I met him, he followed me on Instagram. I’d seen his username pop up in my new follows, and ever since, I’d been posting a little more often than usual.

I liked the idea of him opening up a video of me, post-workout, covered in sweat.

Older guys just did something to me. I wasn’t ashamed to admit it. I could have plenty of fun with guys my own age, but the fact that Nathan was a dad, he was straight, he was fit as fuck, and his hair was just starting to get a little salt and pepper in it?

He may as well have had Kace Tomlin Spank Bank Material written all over him.

Fuck.

Now I was picturing him naked, bent over with those words scrawled right down the back of his thighs, and I was liable to start getting hard right here in the car next to one of my cameramen.

I tried to think about anything else for the rest of the car ride. But after punching in the code to my front gates and pulling up in my round driveway, I slipped out my phone and shot a text to Nathan.

>>Kace: Having some people over for a get-together tonight. Come chill.

I knew he’d probably never show up. But that wasn’t going to stop me from trying.

“Three! Two! One! Go!”

I stabbed a knife into the bottom of a canned mojito and immediately brought the cold metal to my lips as a crowd surrounded me. Chilled, bubbly alcohol streamed down my neck and onto my bare chest before I caught the rest with my mouth.

The party was rolling, now.

I’d ditched my shirt, the music was bumping, and one of my best friends Callie had challenged me to shotgun this can.

I chugged it down easily. We were all out by my infinity pool and Callie was just as much of a beast with the canned mojito as I was.

“Done!” Callie called out just a second before I’d finished shotgunning my own canned mojito, and both of us threw down the cans as the rest of the people around us erupted into cheers.

The shimmering light of the pool cast everyone in a cool, blue light, and the ambient glow of the house spilled out through the long glass windows behind us.

This house was the best fucking party pad I’d ever been in, and it was way too cool knowing that it was my own.

“She’s got you beat!” someone called out and I just nodded.

“Callie never stood a chance against me back in college, but she’s got my ass now,” I said. I grabbed her hand and held it up in the air. “The true winner, Callie Winkler, ladies and gentlemen.”

I’d lost count of how many mojitos I’d had over the course of the night. I’d invited plenty of my old college friends, new friends I’d made along the way, and even some fans from Instagram.

Callie gave me a quick hug as the circle around us dissolved, and more people started jumping into the pool.
