“I love her like my own little sister. I have her.”

“Babe, you just said I know you. What’s up? What aren’t you telling me?”

I crack my knuckles and smile. She knows me so well. It feels good to have her home.

“It’s my brother. I see his guilt over that cunt. It’s pissing me off. She doesn’t deserve his thoughts, let alone his guilt.”

“Take the guilt away,” she and Jace say at the same time.

Jace is standing over my desk now. He tosses his phone down in front of me. The pics he took are open for my view. I know he has video too.

“You’re right,” I say to Ny. “I know just how. Listen, I need to go. See you tonight.”

“Okay, I’ll see you later.”

I look up at Jace. “Have Ming send the pictures to his phone. The ones of her with Franky. None of the ones showing his face. You know Dante.”

Jace scoffs. “He’ll kill him.”

“You know it. I’ll handle that. Let’s show him who she was. I think he’s forgetting she admitted to cheating. Let’s help him out,” I say with a smile.

“How soon do you want it done?”

I sit back in my chair and steeple my fingers in front of my mouth. “I’m not uncaring. Let him bury the bitch. As soon as she’s in the ground, send them.”

“Got it.”

“Hall seems to have bitten the apple,” I grin as I think of Lizzy saying not to hire and promote Peter.

“Yeah, I saw him on the boards this morning and started to leak information.”

“You cloaked it? Made sure he was the only one to see it?”

“Of course. Unless you hacked me, you wouldn’t see it.”

“Perfect.”

“That was so much fun,” I say through my laughter.

We stumble out of the elevator and back into the apartment, laughing. Gio has his arm around my neck and Jace has his around my waist as we move into the massive open living area. We’ve been like this all night, moving as one. Gio even had someone else drive so Jace could relax with us.

Well, relax as much as Jace will. I didn’t miss how he moved possessively around the both of us. Protecting Gio as much as he protected me. It was my first time in New York City with the two out in the open.

The restaurant was spectacular, the company even better. Although a lot was placed into perspective for me. I’m in love with a soon-to-be Don and his right hand. I was in awe to see men walk up to Jace to pull his ear to get to talk to Gio. At the Dollhouse, things are so different.

If you come in, you already have an appointment with Gio. If not, you go through one of the dolls to try to get an appointment. That is if you have that kind of pull. And even then, I kept my distance.

Honestly, something has changed. The level of respect for Gio is different. I also noticed he didn’t push me aside or try to hide me. If anything, he introduced me to those Jace allowed a moment to say hello.

I laugh as Gio goes to kiss my neck. “Dance with me,” he whispers as the sound of his phone connecting to the sound system fills the apartment.

I turn into his waiting embrace and wrap my arms around his neck. Lewis Capaldi’s “Hold Me While You Wait” starts to play. I smile up at Gio. He brushes his fingers over my cheek, kissing my forehead, then pulls me closer.

He starts to sing the words in my ear and my heart tightens. This new Gio is threatening to shatter my heart to pieces if he doesn’t live up to all he’s shown me so far. I lift my gaze to his and get lost in a trance.

We sway to the music, getting lost in time. Jace comes over and wraps his arms around me from behind. It all falls into place. I’ve never felt more loved and cared for. Jace kisses the back of my head.

“Do you guys remember when Mom and Emil started to teach us to dance?” I ask.

“I remember your hands were so tiny, but I always wanted to hold them,” Gio replies.

“You both were so much taller than me. And yet we were all so little.” I chuckle.

“You were adorable,” Jace says with a smile in his voice.

I tip my head back to look at him. “I remember you were so comfortable with speaking Danish. You hardly said a word in English. I always looked to Gio for answers when the adults weren’t there to translate.”

“And still, the three of us had our own language,” Jace says.

“Yeah, I’d feed you cookies to play with me,” I tease.

Gio snorts. “I’d find you two at that tea table after my naps. He’d sit staring at you like a goofball, eating cookies and nodding while you talked away, not waiting for him to answer because you knew he wouldn’t.”
