And the reasons she gave me, I’ma have to keep an eye on her and her younger siblings. Though I’m coming to understand her a little bit more, I don’t think she’d cut them open or anything, but then again…she’s nuts so who knows.

I keep fielding calls from mom and dad when I wasn’t the one calling to check up on my kids. I’m amazed at myself that not once did I even think about the fact that my teenage daughter was at home with her boyfriend. It was getting easier to accept I guess, or I’ve just been too busy to dwell.

I like the move she made, inviting us both to pick out her dress, and lunch afterwards. I haven’t had time to think about everything because we’ve been going ever since we came back, but now sitting out here in this room that looked like the lobby of a hotel and not the sitting room of a hospital I had more than enough time to think.

If the kid keeps going the way he is, then I foresee no problems in the future but I’m still gonna have a talk with him. He knew up until now what I expected of him if he was going to date my teenage daughter, now he needs to know, since the two of them think they’re grown and want to live together, what I expect from the man in my kid’s life.

Her mother has been very happy with me all day, very clingy too. I’m guessing she hasn’t really given much thought to how it’s going to feel to lose her oldest daughter. Up until now her whole focus has been on me, and getting me to give Caitiebear what she wants. I’m waiting for reality to hit home because I know I’m gonna be picking her ass up off the ground.

I looked around at the men and not for the first time wondered how we’d all become so clannish. If you’d have told me five years ago that I’d be mixed up with these boys I would’ve laughed in your face and called you a liar. The one that’s in that room about to lose his mind most of all. Now it seems a day doesn’t go by that I’m not on the phone with one or the other of them.

We couldn’t discuss shit since the women were here and though they were all nervous about one of their own giving birth, and running back and forth like feeding stations for their kids, I have no doubt that they were all ears. The only thing keeping us on our toes is old man Mallory, he’s been after the SEALs for the better part of an hour now and that shit’s funny as hell.

“So, this training that you boys do, where do I get my hands on a program like that? I know there’s more to it than what they have posted all over the place.”

“Pop, your old ass is not doing SEAL training, what’s wrong with you?”

“What? We can have some of the boys do that shit. The way things are going you never know, sea, air and land right fellas? I’ve already conquered the land I might as well shoot for the other two, there’s good money in it.”

Travis looked like he wanted to shoot himself in the head and the SEALs were getting a kick out of the old guy. I guess they forgot what I’d told them about him. I know too that he was just feeling them out, wanting to see for himself who it is that I’d got his kid mixed up with.

If they didn’t know who he was, the second time he threatened the orderly that told him to put out his cigar would’ve given them kind of an idea. Yeah, the jovial grandfatherly looking man was a stone cold killer. It had only taken that orderly looking into his eyes once to get that message.

He and I have a weird ass relationship. I can call him anytime for anything, but a long time ago I realized he keeps me at arm’s length. Not like he freezes me out, funny enough I get the sense that he’s protecting me in a way, Travis does the same shit come to think of it.

Although I’m older than him, he acts like he’s the big brother. Then again it could be because of the business they’re in, who knows. Things were starting to kick off in the delivery room just as the elevator doors opened and these three guys walked in.

Every man jumped to his feet and went on guard. “Uncle Mallory!” One of them said as he took us all in.

“Cool it boys, these here are Hank’s brothers, Jaxxon and Adrien and this is his friend Jace.”

“What’s doing?” He had a strong Louisianan accent and he was either military or merc. “How’s she doing unc? Cousin Travis?” They exchanged hugs and back claps before the three newcomers found seats with old man Mallory.
