I was just about to pack it up because I didn’t want anyone seeing me parked there that long and getting suspicious when the phone rang. “You can come in kid, nothing’s going on out there tonight.”
“You were monitoring me?”
“What do you think?” He was back to his hanging up shit.

I paced back and forth in my room after sending Catalina off to do whatever it is she does in the evenings for the second time. She too was worried about her sister but her questions were only making me more nervous. Colt has been closed away with our eldest for the better part of an hour and a half and I haven’t been able to hear a peep.
It was halfway through our shopping spree when I was thanking my mother in law for her kindness in taking us all out for a day at the spa that I realized something was wrong. Elena informed me that my husband the sneak had been the one to suggest it and my mind got to wondering.
Of course it was the first thing I asked him upon my return but he wasn’t saying a word. Todd looked to be no worse for wear so I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it is that he’s up to. But when he called Caitie away I knew I had been right to worry.
I turned when I heard someone at the door, ready to send Catalina packing once again with her nosy self, but it was Caitlin who was standing there with a look on her face that I couldn’t quite describe.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” I moved to pull her into the room and into my arms to offer comfort. My mind was already made up, if Colton Lyon breaks my daughter’s heart there’s going to be hell to pay.
“Mom, daddy said Todd and I can get married with his blessing.” I pulled back and looked at her face, not quite processing her words. And then I did something I’ve never done in front of my kids. “You’re shitting me!” We both started jumping up and down and my mind was going sixty miles a second.
“Wait, did Todd ask you?”
“Not yet, but apparently he and dad talked today. Todd did ask me if I wanted to choose my own ring but I thought he was talking about like a few years down the road or something.”
“Oh, we have so much to do. Okay, it’s May, you’re going to school in September, that only gives us four months to plan, not even.”
“Mom, mom breathe calm down.”
“I can’t calm down, leave it to your father to do something like this.”
“Mom daddy hasn’t done anything, he just said we could get married if we wanted to he didn’t say we had to do it this second.” She laughed through tears.
“You don’t know your daddy. Since he gave you the okay he’s gonna want you married right and proper before you leave this house, you mark my words.”
I was so excited I didn’t know where to start. Cierra, Jessie and Dana Sue were here but the others had already left to go to Elena’s and they’re leaving Saturday. ‘Have you talked to Todd since you spoke to your dad?”
“Not yet, I was so excited I came to tell you first. I’m gonna go call him now.”
She ran from the room and I fist pumped the air just before my husband walked through the door. I flew into his arms and burst into tears and could imagine him rolling his eyes.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you.” I kissed all over his face. “Colton quit it, our guests are still awake downstairs.” I could feel him growing hard against my middle, what else is new?
“Come ‘ere where you going?”
I let him hold me even though I was ready to jump out of my skin with excitement. I wanted to call the others including my mom and his then have a discussion with my girls about the plans we needed to make.
“I see the wheels turning, where’s the dress coming from, and how much is this shit gonna cost me?”
“How would I know? I didn’t even know they were talking about getting married.”
“Lying ass, tell me!”
“Okay, but seriously the only reason I know the answers to those questions is because Caitie and I had that discussion a while ago when she was playing make believe. It’s something all girls do when they reach a certain age. I don’t know why you’re looking at me like that.”
“I’m looking at you because you look fuckable, ripe. What did you do at that spa today?” I did a little sexy shake to tease him and eased out of his arms. “I got scrubbed all over and I also bought some new edible cream.”
“Let’s try that shit now.”
