“Simon…”

“What did you think you were getting all this money for? To chummy up with my brother? You knew it would lead to something. And I’m sure as you chatted it up with him, you’ve figured it wasn’t just because he needed the fucking company. You should be thanking me. You signed up for this without any details. Aren’t you glad I didn’t ask you to murder him? You should be relieved, flattered even, that I just want your cock in me.”

“Why are you doing this?”

“Because I have a bone to pick with him. And this will satisfy that. This will make us even, once and for all.”

“Even?”

Does he really think if I fuck him, that will somehow get Ryan back for being raped by his brother?

“Come on,” Simon says as he moves from the desk, approaching me. “I won’t make it last longer than twenty minutes, even if you want it to.” As he nears me, he reaches up to my face, grazing the back of his fingers against my cheek in a way that makes my skin crawl. “You must be good. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have needed it so many goddamn times.” He spits out his contempt, as if he’s struggled watching all our fucks, but it’s a punishment he’s been inflicting upon himself by choice.

I pull away from his touch, and his gaze narrows. “Do you really want your sick sister to get booted from the treatment center she’s at? While she’s this fragile?”

“Don’t you fucking dare,” I growl.

His eyes widen. “I don’t even have to enjoy it, Jonas. Just take all this anger.” He grabs my fly, and as I pull away, he comes with me, unfastening it and yanking my pants down. “Just show me with your cock how much you hate me, and then you can have everything. I’ll let you slap me. Fuck, if you want to punch me, I don’t give a fuck. Show me your hate. Just make sure to come in me when you’re finished.”

This fucking psychopath. “My sister could be dying,” I say as I fight to get my pants back up. “And if I don’t do this, you’re going to put her on the street?” I’m trying desperately to get away from his perverse desire, back to the issue at hand.

“If I were you and knew she could be dying, I’d get this over with quickly. You don’t want to be responsible for her death.” His gaze is fixed on me as he awaits my reply.

I’m tempted to take him up on his invitation to punch him, but I steady my temper. I have to consider this: potentially letting my sister die or doing this one quick, vile thing.

But how could Ryan ever look at me the same again if I did this? How could I ever look at myself? Part of me is pleading to do it for her, but another part refuses. I have morals. Principles. Standards.

“I don’t know what there is to think about, Jonas. You had no issue jumping into bed with my brother for some money. First time we met, you would have fucked me stupid for hours if I’d offered you a fraction of what I did.”

True. That would have been a small price to pay, but now that I know Ryan…know what a fucked-up thing that would be to do to the man who just told me he loves me, I can’t bear the thought.

Simon moves closer, until his face is inches from mine. “Unlike him, I haven’t had anyone in me in a very long time,” he whispers. “Think of how tight I’ll be.”

As his gaze meets mine, I see the evil behind those eyes. The rage-filled brother ready to exact his revenge.

This is like a fucked-up moral dilemma.

I move toward him, and for the first time, he backs away. He bumps against the desk, and I lean in close, debating what to do.

“Yes, Jonas. You know you want this.”

In an instant, my doubt evaporates. “Do what you have to do, Simon. I’m not helping you get revenge on Ryan. And I’m leaving. I’ll figure out what’s best for Charity on my own. Just know, if she dies, her blood is on your hands.”

His eyes widen—a flash of rage. “Is this how it is? After everything I’ve done for you and your family?”

I’m not sure where my confidence is coming from. Maybe from knowing I have Ryan on my side, and that makes me feel invincible.

“More money?” Simon asks.

“If you offered all the money in the world, I wouldn’t fuck you.”

His jaw tightens, and despite how together he’s acted, I can tell I nailed a decent blow to his ego.

“Thank you for the opportunity, Mr. Hawthorne. But no thanks. Consider this my resignation.”

As I shut the door behind me, I gasp.
