“I feel free,” I admit. I sit up on top of him, not caring that I’m naked. I’ve never shied away from nudity; it is the natural human body form. I always felt that women were beautiful but staring down at a man between my thighs I am starting to realize that men can also be beautiful.
“I know my mind is all over the place. I can’t imagine where yours is.”
“I don’t know why they did it.” I run my hand up Brad’s chest, enjoying the feel of his chest hair on my fingers. I’ll be able to sketch better the next time I draw him. Hell, this time I’ll be able to sketch all of him in detail. From his handsome face to his defined muscles and let’s not forget his… My thoughts are interrupted by Brad.
“Tell me about them,” he asks. So I do. I don’t know how long I go on for but as I talk, the memories come flooding back, one after the other. I’ve never had the opportunity to share details about them before because no one cared to ask. It feels good to give them a bit of life by sharing things about them.
“I miss them.” I can feel my cheeks are wet. Brad sits up, kissing them.
“Your father was the black sheep, Mel. You were the star. A little bit different but in a good way. You sound a lot like your grandma and I’d bet everything that after the way you’ve talked about how your grandfather treated her that he never thought he would have gotten anywhere without her.”
“She wasn’t supposed to be involved in the company.” Not that I can recall from what she’d told me. She would give advice here and there to my grandpa, but that was it.
“No, but she was the star. The shining light that lit the path for your grandfather to travel down the road to success. It’s what you are Mel. You may not welcome it, but when you walk into a room, people take notice. There’s no denying you.”
I sniff. “That’s one of the sweetest things that anyone has ever said to me.”
“Then the world’s been missing out. I promise you that I was drawn to you from the second I laid eyes on you. You’ve had my attention even when I was being a dick.” He looks a little bit sheepish. He was a dick that first day, but in all fairness, I hadn’t been much better.
“What now?”
“You get a lawyer. The best.”
“Should I talk to my aunts and uncles?” God it’s been so long but I’m hoping their hate for my father will drive them to help me.
“Not yet. You really don’t know where they are with all of this. I know you want to trust them but it’s best to get a lawyer as the middleman. I’ll call Carter. I’m sure he’ll have the meanest asshole lawyer in town. We’re going to need someone pretty ruthless to deal with your father.”
“Thank you.” I kiss him again. This time it’s hard and deep. I don’t think he understands how much he’s about to change my life. He’s like a knight in shining armor to me.
We fall back onto the bed, making love once again. My body tingles with how gentle he can be with me. The light streams in from the window as my fingers skate along the small scars that litter his body.
“What’s happening here?”
“We’re falling in love.” I smile into his chest. I'm probably already there but he’s avoiding my question.
“I underground fight for extra cash.” I sit up again, looking down at him.
“That’s dangerous!” I try and sound scolding.
“Your death glare does nothing, baby, when you look like a naked mermaid in my bed.” He pulls me back down onto him. “I don’t do a lot of legal things.”
“But you could,” I remind him. He’s so talented. Heck I’m already offering him a job. I bet he could work for the government or something.
“Too young and I have a sister and mom to take care of.”
“You’re wrong. I looked it up.” I pop up from the bed again. Well, I try but he pulls me back down to the bed with him. “I was going to show you.” I Googled the world of hacking today when I was playing on my phone. There are people younger than him working for some of the biggest companies in the world. I reach for my phone again to show him but he grabs my hand, bringing it to his mouth and kissing it.
“Let’s take care of one thing at a time, babe. We have plenty of time to decide our own paths once we get this all settled.” I sigh and cuddle back into him, knowing that he’ll need more convincing and that I plan on being the light that guides his way. His fingers begin to stroke down my back again. “We need to be careful because we don’t know what your father is capable of.” His words send a shiver through my body and this time it’s not a good feeling.
