She still hadn’t moved from the door, still hadn’t looked into my eyes, and the last bit of my resolve holding me together snapped.

It was loud.

Chaotic.

Taking hold of me.

I was over to her in two determined strides, gripping her arm, forcefully spinning her around to face me as I viciously taunted, “Do it, Bay. Tell me… tell me I’m just your friend who makes you come.”

She fervently shook her head, not meeting my eyes. Knowing what would happen if she did. Without thinking, I grabbed her chin to make her look at me, but she jerked her face away, resisting me instead.

But in the end, I won.

Our eyes locked.

And hers were laced with so much remorse and regret.

“Tell me, Bay, tell me I don’t know how to fuck you until you’re screaming my name.”

“Please, stop,” she whimpered, blinking away the tears.

I hated treating her like this, but I couldn’t help myself. I could be a vicious tycoon when the mood struck, and nothing made him come out more than when I felt like I was being taken for a fucking fool.

“Tell me.”

“Aires, please…”

“Fucking tell me!”

“I can’t!”

“Why? Why can’t you? Say it. Fucking say it, Bay! Tell me I don’t know what you feel like with my dick deep inside you? Tell me I don’t know how you taste when your come is dripping down my face?”

All I wanted was to hear her finally express some sort of truth about who I was in her life. The control I willingly gave her, sacrificing what felt so agonizing for me.

“Aires, please…”

It was now or never.

This was it.

The moment she would show me her true colors.

“Say it!”

She flinched, her lips trembling. I tried to find her voice, her mind, and her heart, which I knew was mine. I was ready to beg if that was what it’d take for her to admit her true feelings about me. For her to finally admit she had always been mine. Leaning my forehead on her shoulder for support, I turned my face to lay soft kisses down her neck.

I kissed all along her cheeks, wrapping my arms around her, wanting her to seek the comfort she needed in my embrace and return the love I always received from hers. Every last part of her felt like it slipped through my hold and my heart.

I inched back, barely brushing my lips along her cheek until our lips almost touched.

Breathing out against her mouth, I ordered, “Say it, Bay. I know you want to. Please, just say it for me.”

She swallowed hard and rasped, “Aires, you know I care about you.”

“Do I? How do I know? Huh?”

“You just know. That’s the whole point of you.”

“Why couldn’t you just say that to Robert, then?”

“You know why. Especially since B. Night called us out last week. I think he said something to him because he’s riding my ass about that role he wants me to accept.”

“And what do you want to do, Bay?”

“You know what I want. I just want to be with you.”

“Yeah? Well, you have a shitty way of showing it.”

“That’s not fair, and you know it.”

I immediately let her go. Her words felt like acid on every inch of my skin. I stepped back, putting some much-needed distance between us before I manhandled her the way I suddenly wanted to.

Traitorous waves of betrayal rolled off me as I closed my eyes, desperately trying to govern my thoughts and control my breathing.

My heart.

“How long do you want to play this game where we hide from the world?”

“Stop… I mean it, Aires. Stop it!”

“No! I’m not going to stop!”

“Don’t do this… please don’t do this.”

“When then? When is it a good time? After we wrap up this movie and we’re pulled apart again?”

“That’s not true, but there’s much more at stake for me than for you. You’ll just get to be the bad boy who bagged the good girl. Everyone will praise you. I’m the one people are going to think is a fool.”

“Wow.” I jerked back. “I’m thrilled you think so highly of me.”

“What do you expect? Your bed-hopping ways, the hordes of women you flaunt on a daily basis, and let’s not forget the number of sex tapes there are of you on the internet. Can you understand where I’m coming from for a second?”

I sighed. She was right. “Bay, I just… I can’t take any of that back. I wish I could for you, but I can’t.”

“Why didn’t you try to… I mean… back then, why didn’t you ever call me, Aires?”

“I could say the same to you.” I tugged the hair away from my face in a frustrated manner. “We were young, and that’s my only excuse.”

“I know… Everything happened so fast. We ate breakfast on set one day, and the next, we were told the show was canceled. For me, I think a lot of it came from fear of not knowing what was next. It’s what took up residence in my headspace for so long. I’ve always been yanked in all these different directions, and I just got caught up with it all, and now… seeing you again, it’s brought up all these emotions I put aside because I knew I couldn’t have you.”
