“That’s so helpful.” I smile wide. “Thank you so much. They should really say all of this at the door.”

“They assume you’re already a member or are with one,” she says. “If you need anything, ask for me.”

I thank her again, and we walk in opposite directions. I go straight to the first door I see with a green light up top, and sure enough, there’s a window. I look inside and see a man with a black mask on his face. There’s a woman kneeling between his legs pulling his pants down, and another unbuttoning his dress shirt.

My heart pounds hard when I see the cursive Carpe Diem tattoo on his right pec, confirming that it’s Tate. I’m not sure if it’s jealousy or anger for not telling me about this, but my heart plummets just the same. He did say he wasn’t interested in playing, didn’t he? I take a step back and crash into someone behind me. I automatically start to apologize as I turn around, but the person presses up against me and keeps me from moving.

JOSSLYN

“Ihave a private room if you just want to watch, Josslyn.”

His roughly whispered words skate through me, causing a shiver to go down my spine. I turn around quickly, my breath catching when our eyes lock. He’s not wearing a mask, which doesn’t really surprise me. Finn doesn’t seem like the type to care about others discovering his hidden kinks.

“I…” I set a hand on my heart, willing it to slow down before it punctures a hole in my chest. “How do you even know it’s me? I have a mask on.”

“I have my ways.”

My mouth opens, shuts, and opens again. “I thought you were leaving?”

“I was.” He looks down the hall and back at me, his eyes falling to the wristbands for a second before meeting mine again. “What are you doing here? Don’t you have a ‘boyfriend?’”

“I … yeah. It’s complicated.”

“A two-day-old relationship is complicated?” His brows raise. “That sounds promising.”

“When was the last time you were in a committed relationship?” I narrow my eyes at him, as I set my empty glass down on the table beside me.

“It’s been a while.” He searches my eyes, and though it’s gone quickly, I think I see a spark of humor in his. “You look surprised.”

“I am.”

“Because you heard I’m a womanizer.”

My knee-jerk response is to glance over my shoulder again to where Tate is almost completely naked now, though the mask remains on his face. Everything that’s happened tonight is making me question my willingness to be in a relationship. I should’ve listened to my gut when I met him. He was too proper, too perfect, and smiled too much. No one smiles that much unless they have something to hide. My mom insisted that Tate would be good for me. And my loneliness outweighed my hesitance. And now, here I am feeling foolish. My jaw clenches. I cross my arms as I turn away.

“The plot thickens,” Finn says, making my eyes snap back to his. He quickly looks at the window behind me and back at me. “That two-day in there?”

Two-day. I snort. “Maybe.”

“He didn’t invite you to join?”

My response is to purse my lips and tear my eyes from his. I stare at the acrobats moving up the silks.

“Huh. He didn’t then,” Finn says, demanding my attention again.

“In case you haven’t noticed.” I bring my arm up to show off my bands. “I’m not interested in threesomes.”

“Yet it’s the only one he has on.”

“This is none of your damn business.”

“Nor do I care about any of it, if I’m being completely honest.”

“Then why…”

“Because I’m still here, and I’m bored, and my offer remains,” he says, shoving his hands in the pockets of his slacks.

My heart gallops, but I ignore it. “The offer remains because you’re bored?”

“I’m here because I’m bored.” His eyes scan my face. “The offer remains because I still want to fuck you.”

I swallow and drop my gaze from his, taking him in. He’s wearing a light blue button-down, brown slacks, and matching sneaker-style dress shoes. Everything fits him as though it’s tailored to show off his impressive body. And it does. It definitely does. I blink away to stare at the aerial silks again, in an attempt to calm my nerves.

“Then I’m sorry to inform you that there are rules,” I say, my eyes still on the silks. “No fucking.”

“As in, I can’t put my cock inside your pussy?”

My breath catches again, but I force myself to look at him. “Pretty much.”

His eyes gleam but he says nothing, as he takes his hands out of his pockets, brings a card out, and turns around. “Follow me.”

He doesn’t wait for my response. I watch him swipe a card and push the door open, waiting for me to follow. I do, despite the voices in my head that tell me not to. The room is completely dark until he pushes a button and dim lights appear above us. Though the lights are dim, they’re enough for us to go up four steps, where another door awaits. He slides the card again and steps inside, holding it open for me.
