Everything has changed.

My seed is growing in my girl’s womb. Her virginity is mine.

Nothing will ever be the same again.

She looks up at me through half-closed eyes as I linger inside her. Finally, I pull out and we both wince.

“You’re incredible,” I whisper as I hold her close, not ready to let her go just yet.

“I guess that makes two of us,” she says, smiling softly as I hold her in my arms. “Should we go swimming now?”

I lower my lips onto her collarbone and breathe in her intoxicating scent. “In a minute,” I whisper. “I’m not ready to let you go just yet.”

“Take all the time you need,” she whispers back. “I’m good right here.”

I hope that’s not a lie.

Because what I need is her in my arms forever.

Chapter Eight

Duncan

Vivian doesn’t know it, but I’ve been asking around town, trying to find the guy who scammed her with the fake rental. If she actually leaves at the end of the week, which I’m hoping she won’t, she’ll be leaving with her money.

I know this crook is from the Greene Mountains. He used actual pictures of my house for the listing, so that means he’s been on my secluded road taking photos.

I’ve been texting some guys I know from around town about this Kyle Kline. I figured it was an alias, but apparently, the guy is even stupider than I thought. He didn’t even make up a fake name, the moron. My buddy Julian from the Search and Rescue team overheard him bragging about scamming ‘some dumb bitch’ in the bar.

I’m headed there right now to teach him some manners.

Vivian is still sleeping at home. I left her a note next to the pot of coffee saying that I’ll be back soon.

I pull up to the address I was given and grit my teeth when I see his rundown trailer with all of the garbage scattered around his wild mess of a property.

“Wakey wakey, motherfucker,” I whisper as I step out of my truck and slam the door closed.

I march up to the door with my body tense and my heart racing. I pound on the door repeatedly until he yanks it open a minute later.

He’s a scrawny punk with the shittiest tattoos I’ve ever seen and some of the mangiest messy hair around. He yawns so loud I can see all of his missing teeth and then he scowls at me. “What the fuck do you want?”

I grab a fistful of his hair and yank him down the steps. He trips on the stairs and falls to the ground by my feet.

“What the fuck, man?!” he screams as I grip his hair tighter.

“Do you know me?”

“No!” he screeches. “I’ve never seen you in my life, man! Let me go! Fuck!”

I kick him in the ribs. “Then why the fuck did you take pictures of my house and put them online?”

“I didn’t!”

“I know it was you, Kyle. You stole money from a very important person to me.”

“I steal money from a lot of people, man,” he whines as he tries to get away from my grip. He can’t. “Don’t take it so personally.”

I kick him in the ribs again. “You don’t steal from her.”

“Alright, fuck man. Just let me go.”

“I want her money back. Thirteen hundred dollars.”

“Thirteen hundred dollars?! I don’t have that kind of coin.”

I yank him up to his feet, slam his back against the trailer, and punch him as hard as I can in the stomach. He folds in half with a gurgling sound and then falls to his knees, clutching his stomach as he tries to catch his breath.

“We’re going to do this until I get her money.”

“Fuck, man,” he says with a wheeze. “Is it that dumb bitch who booked the cottage?”

“The what?” I ask as I show him my fist. He flinches.

“The company blocked my account!” he says, flinching away from me. “I never got the money!”

“Bullshit. She never got a refund, but she’s going to get one now. Where is it?”

He doesn’t want to tell me, but I can tell he’s lying. I cock my fist back and he breaks. “Okay, okay! It’s under my sink. Shit, man. That’s my money. She gave it to me. I earned it.”

I don’t have time to explain to this guy how stealing money is not the same as earning it. I only have a few more hours with my girl and I don’t want to waste any more of them with this punk.

“Stay right fucking here,” I growl at him before charging into his trailer and heading right to the sink. The place is a disaster and I have to hold my breath so I don’t pass out from the smell. There’s an old coffee can full of bills under the sink.

I count out thirteen hundred dollars, shove it into my pocket, and then charge back out.
