Disgust overwhelmed me and I found myself unable to just grin and bear it like I normally would. I needed to vent some of anger and I needed to do it now before I exploded and took it out on the wrong person. Kelly was to blame for all of this and I wanted her to know just how that made me feel. I certainly wasn’t going to complete her little task either! I dropped my shopping basket to the floor then turned on my heel and began marching for the exit.

The nerve of that woman, I seethed.

As I was storming out of the store, however, a genius idea came to me: Anderson Headquarters was just around the corner. I could confront Kelly and ask her just what the hell she thought she was doing. Instead of being the timid little wallflower in this fucked up mess, I could go see that evil snake and give her a piece of my mind. Not only would she get what she deserved, but it would make me feel a hell of a lot better.

“Yes,” I muttered to myself as I ventured out into the busy New York streets. “I won’t let her get away with this.”

With a renewed sense of determination, I rushed through the store doors and looked around me to try and orientate myself. Anderson Headquarters was nearby, I knew it, but which way? I pulled out my trusty phone and checked my location on the map before heading in the right direction. My feet were pounding the pavement angrily as I moved through the city and for once, I ignored the hordes of people surrounding me because I knew I had to get past them if I wanted to get back at Kelly for the harm she’d caused Griff and me. Nothing could stop me. In that moment, it felt like I was ready to face anything.

As I burst into the Anderson Group headquarters, I marched up to the security turnstiles and slammed my bag on the counter. “I need to see Kelly Sinclair and I need to see her now,” I demanded as I looked at the security guard on duty.

The fresh-faced young man in front of me balked at my request. “Um, do you have an appointment with Miss Sinclair?” he asked and I wondered if it was his face day working security. He looked nervous and if it had been any other time, I might have been nicer to him, but not this time. I was too enraged.

“No, I don’t have an appointment, but it is really important. I need to see her right now,” I continued, raising my voice uncontrollably. “Look, I’m an Anderson Group employee.” I pulled out my ID card and thrust it over the counter at him. “See? I’m supposed to come here tomorrow for a meeting!”

“Oh, okay,” he said, calming down once he saw my credentials. He studied the card and then passed it back to me. “I guess I can admit you then.” He tapped his card on the panel to allow me access and I rejoiced internally. “Miss Sinclair’s office is on the sixteenth floor. You’ll have to speak to her assistant about whether or not you can—”

“Thank you! Bye!” I cried out as I pushed through the now open turnstiles and headed straight toward the elevators. Once I was safely inside and hidden from security’s view, I tucked my ID away and then clenched my fists in rage. It wouldn’t be long now until I was face-to-face with the woman who had tried to make a complete fool out of me. I was looking forward to it. I pushed the button marked ‘16’ and I rode up to where Kelly undoubtedly was.

Once I reached her office, however, I hit a snag. It was easy to find her. Her door was marked with the words ‘KELLY SINCLAIR’ noticeable engraved on the wood. Feeling confident, I strode toward her door, but someone stepped out in front of me. At first, I was shocked and a little angry. I stepped back to keep my distance and looked to see who it was. The person in front of me was a young blonde woman I’d vaguely recalled seeing at the dinner the other night, but I couldn’t quite recall her name.

Penny? Polly? Patty?

Before I could figure it out, the woman spoke. “Excuse me, miss, you can’t just walk inside—”

Screw this, I thought angrily. I ignored her words, stepped around her, and pushed my way inside the office. It was a small but extravagantly-decorated room, however, I didn’t take much time to admire the décor. I had bigger plans than that. Instead, I marched right up to Kelly’s desk – completely ignoring the older man sitting in front of her – and slammed my hand down on the wood.
