Instead, his brain wouldn’t shut down. He’d been thinking about Lark all night while tossing and turning, going over every moment of their time together last night.
Monday. He would see her Monday at the class. It had actually been convenient that she’d called him for help last night. It gave him an excuse to make sure she joined the rest of her friends Monday.
He wasn’t sure why she was hedging. It was entirely possible he’d come on so strong every time he’d seen her that she didn’t want to take his class because she wasn’t interested in him. He kind of doubted that though. He also doubted she was so uncoordinated it embarrassed her.
There was some other reason she wasn’t jumping at the opportunity to learn self-defense. He was eager to spend more time with her and figure out what made her tick. Determined. In fact, so determined he didn’t think he could wait until Monday to see her again. Wyatt didn’t want to wait that long. He’d rather spend more time with her before the class and cut through the awkwardness.
The woman was so damn gorgeous. She didn’t seem to know it though. There was something about her that called to him. He’d known it from the moment he’d first laid eyes on her.
He suspected Lark knew it, too. She’d flushed and glanced away that day. She’d flushed and glanced away every time he’d been in her presence. Did he make her nervous? He couldn’t imagine why.
Lark was a very successful real estate agent. He knew for certain she was professional and outgoing in her job. She landed a lot of contracts. Everyone in town talked about her skills and highly recommended her.
It was a bit incongruent that as soon as he entered a room, she looked away nervously. He doubted many things made her nervous. He was certainly on the list though.
No. He couldn’t wait until Monday to see her. He didn’t even trust she would show up for class. She might chicken out. He wanted to see her sooner. Today in fact.
As he finished his run, he wondered how he could make it happen. He had her number in his phone since she’d called him last night, but he didn’t want to call her. It would be too easy for her to not take his call or keep things short if she did.
He stepped into his rental house and headed for the master bathroom, grinning as he came up with a plan. The open house. He’d seen the flyer on the kitchen island. He knew the open house was from ten to two. He would show up near the end. He’d already told her he was interested in looking for property. He could go there as if he were interested in that particular home.
It would work out perfectly.
Wyatt felt better now that he had a plan. Unfortunately, he had to kill six hours until he could put it in motion. He also wanted to have a plan for after the open house.
Hoping she didn’t need to be somewhere after it ended, he decided to come up with an impromptu date. Maybe it was a bit underhanded of him to show up uninvited and talk her into going out with him, but something in his gut told him it was the only way he could get her to say yes. Catch her off guard.
He found himself grinning as he plotted. There was no guarantee she would say yes, but he was hopeful.
There were other issues to consider. Namely the fact that he was a Daddy looking for his Little girl. He’d spent years looking for her. He felt confident the vibe he got from Lark was Little, but something was off.
He suspected she didn’t identify as Little yet. Maybe she didn’t know it suited her. It couldn’t be that she had no clue about the lifestyle. Her best friend, Ellie, was a Little in a committed relationship. Lark had to know. In addition, it seemed nearly every woman who worked at Little Cakes was Little.
Lark wasn’t an employee of Ellie’s, of course. She had her own job, but she did help out at the new shop pretty often because she was best friends with the owner.
Wyatt had seen Lark at Blaze one night a few weeks ago. However, when he’d questioned Tarson, the man had deflected, saying he had no idea if Lark was Little or even submissive. She’d been there on a guest pass same as Wyatt had been.
Wyatt had so many questions, and there was only one way to get answers. From Lark herself. Hopefully today.
By the time he was heading to the open house, he had a solid plan to convince her to go out with him. When he arrived and parked in front of the house, he took a deep breath, nervous. She could turn him down.
