‘Why so jumpy?’ Kimberly asked, getting herself a water bottle from the fridge. ‘How is your little office romance going?’

‘There is no office romance,’ I muttered, not even meeting her gaze. I tried to ignore the pain and focused on working the coffee machine.

‘Heads up. I think Dad wants to have a meeting with us.’

‘Okay.’ I hit the button and finally the sound of the machine drowned out Kimberly’s voice.

Stopping next to me, Kimberly laughed. ‘You can be so dramatic sometimes.’

‘Thank you,’ I said. ‘I try. Have a good day.’

Shaking her head, she finally left me alone. I sighed, letting out a long breath and closed my eyes for a moment as my coffee cup filled and the smell flooded my senses. I have no idea when it had exactly happened, but now whenever Kimberly talked to me, or, hell, even looked in my direction, my shoulders tensed up. One of the good things about working with William, other than looking at his face, had been that I didn’t need to deal with Kimberly as much, if at all.

I forced my shoulders to drop and tried to relax. Soon enough I wouldn’t have to worry about tiptoeing around anyone.

I glanced down at my hand, frowning at the angry red line and squeezed my finger, hoping to quiet the thrum of pain.

‘There you are,’ said a soft and familiar voice and then I felt his warm body against my back.

My heart galloped, not heeding any of my warnings to play it cool whenever he was close. Every inch of my body warming with his words, not just with his body pressed against mine. I couldn’t help but smile.

Before I could utter anything, he hummed right next to my ear and reached for a coffee pod from the cupboard right above me. And then his other hand grabbed my hip, pulling me back so I could feel him. His fingers tightened, burning my body from top to toe. I could still remember his skin sliding against mine, his breath warming my sensitive flesh as he whispered all the things he still wanted to do to me the night before.

I swallowed hard. My throat bobbing. It was hard not to moan.

After getting what he wanted from the cupboard, he pressed his fingers a little harder and forced my body to turn in his arms so I was facing him.

He looked down at me with hunger in his eyes. I don’t think my expression was any different. It really didn’t matter that I’d been smiling from ear to ear ever since I woke up in my bed with him right next to me. Or that we had woken up countless times and kept going on and off the entire night, I still wanted him.

My eyes slid to the now-closed kitchen door.

‘William, someone…’ I started, but he didn’t let me get anywhere with that.

‘Just a minute,’ he muttered, as he tilted my face back to him with his knuckles against my chin.

‘Hi,’ I mumbled stupidly.

‘Did you get my note?’ he asked, his eyes smiling at me.

I nodded, too lost in his gaze to try and find the right words to speak right away. ‘You’re looking at me too much. Everyone will know what’s going on.’ As his eyes moved over my face, I frowned up at him.

‘I’m looking at you too much? Whenever I see you, you’re always looking at me.’

‘That’s because you’re looking at me.’

‘No. Whenever I see you, you’re the one who is already looking!’

His lips stretched into a familiar smile, and my frown smoothed out. He was bantering with me because he knew I loved bantering. He knew it was one of my favourite things. I barely managed to hold back my laughter, feeling happiness bubble up inside of me.

‘I can’t take my eyes off of you,’ he admitted, his voice rough and deep.

‘You already said that,’ I reminded him. I couldn’t remember when exactly, but he had told me that before. It still had the same effect, though; it sent a tingle down the length of my spine. ‘And I can’t stop thinking about you. About us.’

Fingers flexing and moving towards my waist, he dropped his head so he could speak into my ear, as if he was trying to make sure only I could hear what he was about to say even though we were utterly alone.

‘Every time I catch you looking for me over your shoulder, I keep imagining you in bed as I’m taking you from behind.’

His words caught up to my brain and I felt the world tilt.

He was killing me.

His stubbled jaw scraped over my skin and my eyes fluttered close, my body trembling before I could stop it.

‘You have nothing to say?’

‘Nope. Can’t think.’

‘You can’t think?’

‘Nope.’

‘Do you think I can take you from behind tonight? Hold onto your waist while I pull you back onto my cock and you…’
