I forced myself to open my eyes to see why he had stopped and saw that he was looking down between us. My chest was rising and falling, but that’s not where his focus was. I realized I was still holding my finger in a firm grip.

‘What’s wrong?’ he asked, his voice deeper than it was just a moment ago.

‘Nothing. I just scraped my finger when Kimberly surprised me.’

‘Did you cut it?’ His warm, long fingers untangled my grip on my finger and gingerly took it into his so he could inspect it. He brushed the edge of the scrape, sending a shiver throughout my body. I winced. As I watched, he lifted it and put the inside of my finger between his lips, ever so gently sucking on my ghost of a cut.

With every pull of his mouth my body came alive. Every atom of my being pulsed with want and need for this man in front of me who was trying to take care of a cut that wasn’t even a cut. A man who had gotten on his knees just the night before to hear me say yes to him.

He hummed, softly, and I just stood there frozen on the spot.

‘What are you doing to me?’ I whispered, my voice coming out as nothing but a rasp.

‘Hmmm.’

He stopped sucking on my finger, took his lips away from my skin, and met my gaze. I moved slightly forward. The fact that we were at the office entirely forgotten.

He smiled. Unfazed at my state. Letting me go, he handed me my coffee cup and then started to make his own.

‘Please be more careful with yourself,’ he muttered.

I opened my mouth to speak, but someone – no, three new people walked in, but their focus wasn’t on us. They were discussing something I couldn’t understand. One of them said hello to William. I stood straighter, visibly collected myself, and turned to William. He had his back to the newcomers, but his eyes were quietly watching me with a small satisfied smile tugging at his soft lips.

Two could play at that game. I took a sip of my coffee, which was lukewarm at best. After making sure no one was really looking at us, I leaned towards William, just a little, nothing that would draw too much attention, and whispered, ‘Would you like to know one other thing I had on my mind, but didn’t put it on my list?’

I waited as he gave me a nod.

‘I want to be with someone who has that I-can’t-wait-to-be-alone-with-you look on their face. You have that face, right this minute. So, thank you, William. Oh,’ I leaned even closer and murmured, ‘I didn’t answer before, but yes, please take me from behind like that tonight. I love your cock, especially when it’s inside me.’ I pulled back as waves of heat came off of him. His jaw was clenched, eyes telling me a million things without any words.

By the time I gave him my smile and left the kitchen, he wasn’t grinning anymore, but his eyes… his eyes had been too open to hide the effect my words had had on him. And I had watched his fingers twitch as if he was barely holding himself back from touching me.

An hour later, I was back in my office after running around trying to get things ready for our video call and doing my best to avoid Dad at the same time. My gaze fell on my book and of course, there was another piece of paper sticking out of it. My pulse quickened, my heart just purely happy.

I looked around and, making sure nobody was watching, I pulled at the note, devouring the words at once.

You’ll be the death of me.

I bit down on my lower lip and rushed out of the room, heading straight towards the small meeting room, knowing he was already in there.

When I opened the door and walked in, only Stan and Trisha were present.

Hiding my surprise, I gave them a nod and took a seat. He was right behind me; the door opened and William walked in with Rick and Gayle. I turned on my laptop and tried to focus on work and not on William so as not to draw the attention of my friends. It was easier said than done.

I listened to his voice, trying my best to look busy, busy, busy. He took the seat to my left, the head seat.

I was opening the file we’d need, but suddenly my chair was moving. I squeaked, a barely audible sound escaping my lips. My gaze jumped to William, and I realized he was the one pulling my chair to his side. The heat rushing to my cheeks started on my neck and I could do nothing about it. Well, there you go, I thought. Now Gayle and Rick know, because a quick glance at the room showed me that Stan and Trisha were deep in their conversation, arguing about a point they needed to make to Mr Dunne, but Gayle and Rick had seen the quick pull of my chair. Rick’s eyes were slightly bulged, but Gayle… Gayle was smiling her Cheshire cat smile while trying her best to look away. And William was either oblivious to their stares or he didn’t care who saw.
