He covered himself before he wound back between my quivering thighs.

He eased down onto both elbows, bracketing my shoulders, both hands beneath my head, holding me close. “I promise I will never give you a reason to regret it.”

He pushed inside me, slowly, but sure and strong. A possessive thrust that filled me to the blissful brink of pain. So full that I gasped and choked and clawed at his shoulders. “Ezra. I don’t think—”

The words clipped off as he nudged in farther. “You can take it, Savannah. You were made for me.”

His words flooded my mind. My heart and my spirit. Just as he consumed my body. I whimpered when he finally rocked deep enough that every inch of him was seated inside me.

He stilled, rasping, “Fuck, the way you feel wrapped around me, Savannah. I knew you were going to ruin me. Hope you’re good with it, because now I’m going to have to ruin you.”

My nails burrowed deeper into his flesh as I angled up to whisper at his ear, “I’m already ruined.”

Taking me by the outside of the thigh, Ezra pulled out and sank back in. So deep I was gasping again. His fingers kneaded into my flesh. “Are you good, honey?”

I didn’t know why I wanted to weep right then. Didn’t know if it was the sheer gentleness of the way he called me honey, how he said it like it meant something brand-new, or if it was just the weight of him taking me that had unlodged the last barrier inside.

All I knew was I was mumbling at his shoulder, “You feel so good. So good. So good.”

He withdrew and slowly drove back in.

Tingles raced. Tiny flares of pleasure. It wouldn’t take much more of him to set me off. Not when it felt like we’d been coming up on this point since the moment we’d met.

The two of us inevitable.

Ezra began to rock over me, harder with each thrust. He grunted each time, filling me deep, taking me whole.

He kissed me as he did.

With a passion only my soul could understand.

Tender and urgent.

“Your sweet cunt, Savannah.” He rumbled it at my cheek, and he pushed up on a hand, staring down at me as he moved. “So tight and perfect hugging my dick. Never have felt anything like you. I’m ruined for you.”

Those eyes flamed as he took me in, his gaze pure heat as it rushed over my body, gliding down to where we were joined.

He edged his hand between us and rubbed two fingertips over my clit.

I was already close to splitting apart, and it only intensified.

Growing and glowing. Becoming something so immense and overpowering I didn’t think there was a way to contain it.

He thrust, swirling and circling his fingers as he filled me over and over.

Slow and possessive and everything.

His muscles bowed and rippled, his skin taut as he moved.

He kept murmuring, “I have you. I have you.”

Energy thrummed, crackling and sparking.

And that tension that was all our own filled the air.

Rising and unfurling.

Suffocating.

The man my breath.

“Ezra,” I begged, meeting him jut for jut. “Harder. I’m…” I could hardly speak.

Ezra took me faster, his hips snapping as he drove, and his words became nothing more than a growl. “Let it go, Little Trespasser. I can’t wait one more second to feel you come around my cock.”

And the last thread of my reservation severed and snapped.

Bliss exploded, blinding as it spread, shearing through every cell in my body. I felt like I was soaring and sifting through a new reality. Floating through a new existence. Learning of a paradise that I’d never believed existed.

Safe.

Treasured.

Beautiful.

Loved.

I didn’t have time to deliberate the fear it should have evoked.

Because Ezra drove faster, racing to meet me there.

Consuming.

Taking.

Claiming.

“Fuck, Savannah, yes.” I felt it when he broke apart. When he came undone. When he met me there.

He clutched me tight as he came.

The man was burrowed so wholly inside me that it seemed neither of us could exist without the other.

Like we might be essential to the other.

And I was afraid it was my heart that had forgotten how to beat without his.

He panted hard, still holding me close as we both came down. Aftershocks pinged between us, a buzz of pleasure wrapping us whole.

Neither of us spoke for the longest time. We just held on tight, refusing to let go.

Finally, Ezra leaned back enough that he could see my face, and the pad of his thumb brushed over my swollen, kiss-bitten lips. His tweaked up at the side.

“Yeah, Savannah, one of the best days of my life.”

FORTY-FIVE

EZRA

I was a firm believer that it was the millions of instances that wove and weaved and knitted together the fabric of our lives. It was the innumerable small things that made us who we were. The things that showed us what we were fighting for. Taught us what we loved and the things that didn’t really matter.
