Maybe you shouldn’t make her choose . . .

Fuck.

Had he really thought that? He had no problem with poly relationships. The two docs shared Caley. Brick and Xavier shared Juliet. And he’d traveled a lot so he’d met people in all sorts of different relationships.

Wasn’t any of his business to judge.

Love came in lots of forms.

But . . . he didn’t know Loki. Wasn’t friends with him. So they didn’t have a starting point. Plus, he was coming into a relationship that was already formed.

He’d be on the back foot.

And did he even want to share? Or did he want her all to himself?

You’re also forgetting that it might not be your choice.

“I was starting to get worried,” Isa said. “You took longer than I thought.”

“Sorry, Tink,” Loki told her. “I was meant to get home last night, but I got caught up. Did you need me?”

“I always need you.” She leaned back, looking up at Loki. “I nearly missed garbage day.”

“Nooo.” Loki shot her a comical look of horror.

“Uh-huh. Heard the garbage truck coming up the road so I jumped out of bed and raced outside to grab the garbage can. Totally forgot I was just dressed in a lacy nightie.”

Loki started to laugh. “That would have set off Barry’s pacemaker.”

“Oh no, that’s not the worst of it. I had a nip slip.”

That wiped the smile off Loki’s face. “What?”

“Yeah. Imagine how Barry would have reacted to that?” She giggled. She clearly didn’t notice that Loki was horrified.

“He saw your nipple?”

“What? Oh no, Remy stopped me before I got to the street and took the garbage out. Oh shit, Remy!” She wriggled in Loki’s arms until he set her down.

Spinning, she turned to look at Remy. “Remy! I’m so sorry. I forgot you were there. Oh my God! What happened to your neck?”

He fingered the mark and stared up at Loki. The other man glared down at him with a challenge in his eyes. It was clear what Loki expected him to say.

But Remy never liked to do the expected.

“I don’t know, Princess. I guess I must have caught it with my fingernail or something.”

She frowned, but nodded.

Loki gave him a puzzled look.

But Remy had the feeling that the key to winning his girl over . . . was winning her best friend.

He just wasn’t certain exactly what that scenario looked like. Or whether he was prepared for what he would be required to do.

Then again . . . Isa was worth it.

Worth everything.

“I’ll get you a Band-Aid.” She rushed off toward the bathroom.

“Don’t know why you didn’t tell her the truth,” Loki muttered. “And I don’t care. But you need to get off my couch, out of my house, and leave my girl alone.”

“Your couch and house? Not hers?”

“What?” Loki frowned. “Of course it’s hers. What it isn’t, is yours.”

They both fell silent as Isa returned, carrying the First-Aid kit. She set it down on the coffee table. “Hmm, do you want plain or rainbows?”

“Surprise me.”

“Yeah?” She grinned at him.

God, she was gorgeous.

And Loki got to see her every day. He got those smiles. He got to see her running around in pretty, lacy nightgowns.

Remy never got jealous.

Maybe you’ve never cared enough about someone to be jealous.

“Here, I’ll clean it first. Your fingernail might have been dirty.”

Was it his imagination, or did she place extra emphasis on the word fingernail?

“I’m sure he can do that himself, Tink,” Loki said in a tight voice. “In fact, he could even go home and do it.”

Isa turned to look up at Loki. “That’s not very nice. What’s wrong with you? You always say your house is open to anyone who needs something.”

What? He let just anyone into his house? While Isabelle was here?

Oh, Remy didn’t like that at all.

“That’s for people in need,” Loki pointed out. “This guy isn’t in need.”

Remy was too busy frowning up at Loki to see which Band-Aid Isa put on him. But he felt her press it lightly to his neck. Her other hand was on his shoulder to steady herself.

Reaching up, he placed his hands on her hips to help steady her. Loki moved immediately into action, drawing her back into his body.

“Loki! What are you doing?” Isa asked.

He was reacting like someone who’d noticed that someone else was after his favorite toy.

And he didn’t want to share.

Yep. This was definitely a problem.

“Why are you here?” Loki demanded. “In my house.”

“Hey! So it’s not my house too?” Isa turned her head to glare up at her best friend. She might have appeared angry, but he’d heard the hint of hurt in her voice.

And from the look of devastation on Loki’s face . . . so had he.

“What are you saying?” he replied. “Of course it is. This is just as much my house as yours.”

“But I’m not allowed to have friends here?”
