I can do this.
She didn’t have a clue what she was doing or how she was going to do it. Eve tried not to panic but it was impossible.
The house was too dangerous, she was going to have to take this outside.
Going back to the kitchen, she came to a stop as Anthony must have circled back around, and figured she would go to the kitchen.
Spinning around, she took off, going to the main hall. She opened the door and cried out as one of the guards spilled in. He was dead. One of his eyes was missing, and she took off into the night.
Anthony suddenly had a gun, and he shot into the night.
Eve felt a burn of pain in her arm, but she kept running. It was all she could do.
Chapter Eleven
Grim couldn’t go into his home driving a car. The few men that were with him, he told to patrol the perimeter. He wanted to make sure there were no more of Anthony’s guards to finish what they started. Every single person associated with Anthony Thistle was going to die. No one would be safe.
He would hunt them down, and kill them. He wasn’t going to be nice about it. He intended to make them all pay, every single one of them, and as he did that, he would fucking laugh about it. Anyone who tried to take his wife from him, who threatened her, would end up dead.
Grim hoped Eve had figured out how to turn off the security cameras. He didn’t want Anthony to know he had already arrived. He’d certainly broken several speeding laws, but he didn’t give a fuck.
His wife screaming in pain had been a call he couldn’t ignore. He wouldn’t ignore it.
At the sound of a gunshot, he stopped. He was already on his grounds, and he was cursing himself for the length of driveway he had installed. No one needed this much driveway.
He heard a grunt and rushed to the sound, and that was when he saw her. Grim would know his wife anywhere. She hadn’t seen him as she looked back. Grim grabbed her and she let out a terrified cry.
“Eve, it’s me, it’s me.”
He stopped her from stabbing him and then he felt her fall into him as he kept repeating that he had her and nothing was going to hurt her.
“Grim,” she said, her voice nothing more than a whisper. She began to sob as she fell against him.
He wrapped his arms around her, refusing to let her go.
“I’ve got you.”
“He’s coming after us. He shot me.”
Grim pulled back and tried to assess her, but it was too dark.
“I don’t think it’s bad. It’s in my arm, I think.” She gave a little sob and then her arm went around his neck, just the one.
“I’m going to take care of this.”
“Grim, he has a gun.” She let out a sniffle. “He’s going to kill you.”
“Not going to happen.” He held up his gun. “I’ve got a gun.” He cupped her face. “I want you to stay here. Don’t move, promise me.”
“No, no, please don’t.” She started to shake her head.
“Eve, I’ve got to do this. I will take care of him.”
“But … he’s going to kill you.”
“No, he’s not. I’m going to kill him.” Grim hated this. He didn’t want to leave his wife, because he knew she was panicking. All he wanted to do was take care of her, but for now, he was on the hunt for a man who was going to wish he had never heard the name Grim. “Trust me, Eve. Please trust me.”
“I do,” she said. “I trust you.”
He pressed a kiss to her forehead, and then he took off.
If Anthony had fired out of the house, he had a feeling he’d come out. Grim knew his property inside and out. He’d spent hours studying it, and he moved.
Pulling out his cell phone, he found Eve’s number and dialed it. Amateur. He heard the noise as well as Anthony’s curse, and he was able to locate him.
Without waiting a single second, he charged at Anthony, dropping him to the ground. Grim landed multiple blows, his rage knowing no bounds.
Anthony was unable to escape.
Wrapping his fingers around the man’s thick throat, he stared into his eyes. He felt almost giddy at the satisfaction he felt from the fear staring back at him.
“You know, one of your mistakes was going after children. I have rules, and you disobeyed them, but the biggest mistake you made was coming after my wife.”
Anthony tried to fight him but he was no match against him. Grim had fought with men twice the size of Anthony. He learned how to overpower them. It was easy to do and he didn’t let up.
The truth was, this was disappointing to Grim. He would have loved to spend a lot more time torturing this man, taking body parts from him, chopping him into little pieces, and only when the time was right would he grant him death.
