A lot had changed in three weeks.
The bruises on her face were fading fast. Grim spent a lot of time out of the house and she knew why. He was trying to close Anthony’s operation. From the brief information he had given her, they’d been able to locate the missing children. He had also told her that Anthony hadn’t been running his business as long as he implied. He’d gotten lucky, but that hadn’t lasted because Grim had been there to stop it.
Staring at him, she wanted to reach out and touch him, to bridge the gap that had developed between them. She didn’t dare touch him now, though. Grim didn’t get a lot of sleep, because she had kept him up. Her bad dreams were filled with Anthony but in them, her husband wasn’t the victor, Anthony was. She always caught him choking Grim and she couldn’t ever get to him.
Waking up with Grim’s arms around her was a welcome relief, one she couldn’t even begin to describe. So, while he slept, looking so peaceful, she watched him.
“I can feel you staring at me,” Grim said.
Eve smiled. “There’s no way you could have known. You were asleep,” she tutted.
He turned toward her and there was a smile on his lips. “You had a good night last night.”
She nodded. “I did. I had good dreams.” Eve didn’t hold back, she reached out and cupped his cheek. “And did you sleep well?”
“Yes, once I knew you were sleeping well.” He covered her hand with his own. “If I could take those memories away from you, I would.”
Eve looked at him and knew he would do everything in his power to protect her. That was how much he loved her.
“I wouldn’t,” she said.
“What?”
“I wouldn’t take those memories away.”
“Eve, babe, I know they have hurt a part of you.”
She shrugged. “I don’t care. Yes, if I could stop it all from happening, I would. I can’t stop what happened, but I’m also glad it did. It made me realize something.” She stared into his dark-brown eyes. She had come to see now that while he looked at everyone else like they were the enemy and to Grim, they were, he looked at her so differently. She was his whole world. He loved her so damn much and the truth was, she loved him just as much.
Eve knew she didn’t ask to love a monster or a bully, but that was exactly who she had fallen in love with. Grim was everything to her. He wasn’t cruel or mean, but kind, loving, sweet, and charming.
She finally knew what her parents meant about meeting the right person, and she had met that man in Grim.
He was her man.
For now.
Forever.
For always.
“It made me realize how much I love you and how grateful I am that you are who you are. I don’t want you to be anyone else. I don’t want you to be anything but you. I don’t want a divorce, or to leave. I want to grow old with you. I don’t care if it’s dangerous or if it makes me an awful person. I love you, all of you. I don’t want to be with anyone else but you.” She pressed her lips to his. “I love you, Grim. So much.”
He gripped the back of her neck and pulled her down, kissing her lips. She didn’t stay on top for long as he moved, pushing her to the bed. He pulled the sheets out of the way.
She felt his fingers at the base of her throat as he started to open the pajama top she wore. Grim broke from the kiss to trail his lips down her neck, and she closed her eyes. It felt so good. He released the buttons and then took the shirt from her body and threw it across the room.
She loved how abandoned he was with the single toss across the room. She watched him, mesmerized, following his lead as she lay back on the mattress.
Grim was already kissing down her body. Both of his hands cupped her breasts, pushing them together, and she let out a moan as he took one nipple and then the other. He wasn’t in a rush and he slowly teased her breasts. He let go of one to hold onto the other, and she gasped, arching against him, not wanting him to stop.
The pleasure went straight between her thighs. She pressed them together but then Grim pushed them open, and he gave a tut.
“You don’t get to stop me from enjoying myself.” He bit down on her nipple and then sucked it hard into his mouth.
Eve didn’t know what made him stop, but then he began to kiss down her body, going past her stomach, and then she felt his hands between her thighs. He pressed two fingers inside her, stretching her open wide.
