My bear is snarling and whimpering for me to let him loose. He’s going berserk locked up inside.
Okay, fine. Your turn.
I drop my guard and let him come.
The tigers slink back as he explodes out of me with a bloodthirsty roar. He’s feral and ferocious as fuck as he attacks the three predators.
I watch in awe from inside as he lunges on one cat after the other. He’s rough and violent and completely in control. The tigers don’t stand a chance and they start to realize it.
He’s fighting for Willow. For our mate. For our future.
And he’s not letting them off easy.
I can feel his possessive fury ripping through our body as he slams a ferocious paw at a tiger, slicing through his stripes with his long black claws.
The tigers know they’re outnumbered and they bolt, bleeding and limping away. They dart through the old lady’s apartment, passing between her and the TV before leaping out of her open window, one after the other as the rain comes down.
She watches them go with a shocked face and then slowly turns to me, watching as the grizzly bear in her hallway shakes and then phases into a naked man.
I grab the door and smile at her as her wide eyes drop to my lower half.
“Good afternoon, ma’am,” I say to her as I close her door. She just stares with her mouth hanging open.
Poor Willow looks terrified in her bed when I come back in. Her clothes are on and she’s got a kitchen knife in her stiff hands.
“It’s okay,” I whisper as I go to her. I gently take the knife away and wrap my protective arms around her. “No one is going to hurt you ever again. I told you, I’ll kill anyone who tries.”
She melts into my embrace and it feels so good to have finally found her that it brings a tear to my eye.
I’ve taken all I need to. I claimed her body and marked her neck. My seed could be growing in her womb this very minute and if it’s not, it will be soon.
“You’re leaving this place for good,” I tell her in a firm dominant voice. “You’re mine now. You’re coming back with me.”
She’s buried in my arms but I hear a whisper. “Okay.”
I lift her up and take her.
I can come back and get her stuff another time.
Right now, I just need her in my bed.
Exactly where she belongs.
Chapter Ten
Willow
It’s taken a month, but we’re finally at the point in our relationship where we can trust each other. We both know we’re not going to hurt each other and we’re finally starting to get along.
“Good girl, Artemis,” I say to my amazing horse as we trot through the field on the way to the lake. Cameron is up ahead on Ares, his shirt off and his muscular back looking better than the spectacular view of the mountains. Nature has got nothing on this beautiful man.
I still can’t believe I’m his.
My eyes are locked on his slick shiny skin as we ride past the happy cows grazing along the hills, which are looking green and fresh after all the rain we’ve had over the past few weeks.
This has been the best month of my life. I’ve finally found my home with my watchful protector Cameron and I’m not going anywhere.
He smiles when I catch up to him and it makes my heart feel a few sizes too big. It’s so soothing to be near him, to be draped in the protective shelter of his gaze. Everything has been so easy and pleasant. The long days helping and feeding the animals on the ranch seem to fly by way too quick, and the wonderful, heat-filled nights with Cameron have been just… amazing.
“Hey!” Julian shouts as he comes riding over on his fast horse named Apollo.
Cameron and I slow to a stop on our horses as his youngest brother comes galloping over. Julian is great, although all he talks about is finding his mate. He’s already obsessed with the girl and he hasn’t even seen her yet. It always makes me smile hearing him talk. It makes me wonder if my big obsessive bear talked like that about me before we met on the street and he almost ran me over with his truck.
“Hey, Julian,” I say as he arrives.
Cameron grunts. He’s always been a little possessive with me around other men, even with his brothers, but he’s starting to get better. Putting his mark on my neck helped a lot.
And it’s not like he doesn’t know that I’m only interested in him. He just can’t help it. He takes guarding his mate very seriously.
“If I have to watch a cow eat another blade of grass, I’m going to lose my fucking mind,” Julian says as he shakes his head. “I should be out trying to find my mate.”
