“You want to be my whore? Fine.” He pulls back to unzip his jeans as my hands reach to pull my dress up, because the world that I used to live in is gone.

“Fuck me!” I scream as he reaches down and rips my panties off, and then he’s inside me, filling me up, and I know I’ll never be the same.

This is the moment I let go.

He grabs the back of my legs, and my nails move from his chest to dig into the wall as he fucks me.

Our eyes lock.

Our breathing syncs as I let him see me. He wants a whore, then I’ll be it, because nothing but this matters anymore.

In and out he ruts into me, and my body takes it.

Loves it.

He doesn’t talk, it’s not needed, because I feel him, it’s like we have traveled back in time and have nothing but our bodies mating to find the peace that we seek.

“Ammo,” I whisper because it feels so good. His thick cock almost ripping me apart as he fucks me, and my pussy starts to tighten and clench.

“I love you!” I scream, as I go over, shattering like the bottle into a million pieces as I let him take my soul as I pulse and sob, over and over.

I think I hear him curse, maybe not, as he stares into my eyes and does one last thrust, then goes still, and I feel his warm seed jerk out of him and inside me.

“Ammo…”

“Don’t talk,” he commands, his voice so different. Then I gasp as he pulls out of me and backs away. My legs buckle, not that I care, and I just slide to the floor.

He doesn’t move to help me.

He just walks out.

The smell of Jäger, the sound of his boots, and the slam of a door my only friend.

COURTNEY

“Jesus Christ.” A black shadow is suddenly blocking my sun.

“Ugh, move, Malcolm,” I sigh, keeping my eyes closed waiting for that warmth to spread over me again.

“Get up,” he snaps, and I blink an eye open as I look at his frowning face, then turn for Melanie.

“She’s inside,” he answers before I get the question out, forcing me to move my legs as he sits down on the cushioned lawn chair I’m lying on.

“Put sunscreen on, you’re burning before my eyes.” Reaching for the bottle, I hand it to him and reluctantly sit up to grab my sunglasses.

He stares down at the sunscreen bottle. “How long are you going to do this?”

“Do what?” I snap, then take a deep breath because I’m trying to be positive. “Hang out with my friend—”

“You’re hiding, and quite frankly, I’m concerned I might have to send you both to rehab.” He fires right back, looking around Mel’s fantastic backyard. It’s like a tropical oasis, with palm trees, flowers, and huts like beach cabanas.

Malcolm looks at me, his freckles accenting his dark circles. Poor Malcolm, I know this is not easy on him.

“You’re a good friend.” Reaching over, I squeeze his hand. “Have I told you how much I appreciate you?” I have to bite my bottom lip not to start crying.

He shakes his head, but pats my hand, then sighs heavily. “For fuck’s sake, Courtney.” Both of us are trying to pretend that everything is normal.

It’s not. Not even a little.

To be honest, this might be our lowest point. And I do mean us, since I dragged Malcolm to my level that day.

God, I still cringe thinking about how they found me in Ammo’s kitchen, refusing to leave. Because I knew that he would eventually come back, and I had no intention of giving up on us.

Too little, too late, I guess, since Ammo sent Malcolm and Ace to retrieve me.

“The fuck is going on in here?” Malcolm walks in and I look up at him.

“Shit.” Ace moves around him to squat down so as to be on my level.

“Courtney.” He smiles, speaking slowly as if there’s something wrong with me.

“Time to go.”

“No.”

“Just give Ammo time, he needs some space to think, a lot of shit is going on right now,” Ace tells me and stands, looking at Malcolm like he should be helping.

“Fuck Ammo. Who the hell does he think he is? Doesn’t he know Courtney has triggers? Jesus Christ, I don’t care that he’s got shit going on. This is unacceptable, he needs his ass kicked…”

“Court?” My eyes dart over to Malcolm’s, the faint purple-greenish tint under his right eye fading.

I still haven’t asked what happened, I just left with Ace, who has apparently become my personal bodyguard since he moved in here with me at Melanie’s.

“Did you hear from him?” I say, not even pretending I’ve been listening to him.

“No,” he states.

“Well, then, I guess we have no choice but to release it.” Standing, I look around for the blender. We had a full blender of margaritas sitting on the table and now it’s gone. I must have dozed off in the sun.
